## Questions & Answers

**Q: Will this Trident work with Asus rog strix Z690-e gaming motherboard?**
A: No. It does NOT run reliably, if at all, at 6400Mhz on our motherboard. I have been researching this online ad naseum and it appears we definately are not alone. While our board may be on the QVL list for the Trident Z5 RGB memory at 6400Mhz it doesnt work at 6400MHz with XMP enabled. Disregard what the previous reviewer said that everything is fine. It is not. And it is Asus responsibilty. Again. So for now I am stuck running it at 4800Mhz XMP disabled until ASUS fixes this with a bios update. They better do it fast because I only have a certain number of days to return the 6400. I had Gskill Trident Z5 RGB 6000Mhz which ran absolutely fine with XMP enabled and was completely stable at 6000Mhz. I would stay away from the 6400 on this board or ANYTHING above 6000Mhz for DDR5 at this point in time. Asus has a problem on their hands. There is one diffence for me. The 6000Mhz was 64MB populating two DIMM slots. The 6400 I went with 128 so I thought this might be the cause so i tried running the new 6400 with only one 64MB kit just as I had it when it was stable previously with two dimm slot populated to rule out the RAM increase. IT STILL DIDNT WORK. Avoid this on this mobo for now until they fix it. IF they fix it.

**Q: A lot of people are claiming 6400 mhz speed is having problems with the z690 chipset. will a lower speed like 6200 or 6000 work?**
A: I use in ASRock Z690 Taichi and it works flawlessly. Running latest BIOS of course (12.01) but it worked in earlier versions too. Selected the XMP 3 option in BIOS and it gets full speed with zero issues. This memory is also in the AsRock Z690 Taichi motherboards supported manufacturer list (QVL). Don't skip that step...checking your motherboards supported memory list is SOOOO important. If you check this list, then pick a model that is on it at the speed you want, you will take all the effort out of finding memory that works...so easy.

**Q: Is anyone using 4 sticks? Is it stable? Won’t expect running at highest clock**
A: This has been very stable for me. Just using a mild overclock as applied by my Asus board. Overall the MB, memory, and processor 12900 is at an 68% overclock and all has been performing well.

**Q: How does this compare with corsair dominator platinum ddr5 5200?**
A: The Corsair 5200 is CL40, so your CAS latency is higher, and it's a lower clock speed (5200 vs 6400), in theory you're going to get better performance from the Trident. You do have to make sure your motherboard bios is updated to ensure that you can take advantage of the higher clock speeds (I know the Gigabyte board that I use now just recently updated the bios so XMP would recognize the 6400mhz clock speed). But besides the fact that it will show faster speeds in the RAM tests, real world gaming results you're not going to see a huge difference. In all honestly unless want to keep current, the low latency DDR4 ram will perform just as well, if not better, in some situations. On higher end systems where you are running an i9 and a 3080 or higher graphics card, I'd say the benefit is not worth the cost.
