Depends on your individual use. These are stiff initially and require some breakin. **Q: Will this work well with the wen 4212 10-inch variable speed drill press?** A: Yes, mine is installed on a 10-inch Ryobi. The important information is the 3.25" which lines up nicely with the table slots. Note that no fasteners are supplied. I used 1/2" bolts, one size down is way the little standard 3" Wen vice is supplied (2-with lock washers and nuts). You can use up to 5 on this vice 7/16 ( a little tight at the back) or 3/8 only, or 4x1/2. Check your table thickness also for proper fastener length. I used 1 1/2" length. You still need to square it to the table for best results. Nylon bolts and washers made this requirement simpler. The vice requires tweaking for best results. Once done, this vice gets it done, short of brain surgery precision requirements (hundredths instead of thousands). Appears very designed and fabricated at an exceptional value. I paired it with the WEN 4210 10" drill press I just purchased from Amazon, also an exceptional value. I've used these kinds of products for over 50 years and rate WEN one of the best values around. I remember the original American company and still have a their electric wet stone that still works! I think the Chinese company that now owns WEN is trying to emulate their predecessor's value and integrity. **Q: what is x y axis accuracy ?** A: I measured the movement with a digital caliper and the scale on the controls is accurate. Each mark indeed corresponds to a tenth of a millimeter as indicated. However be mindful that this vise is not a precision instrument. If you reverse direction there is significant initial play in the controls before movement resumes. If you make sure the controls are under tension before you move you should be alright. Just don't expect to get down to a thousandth of an inch or anything. By the same token you'd have to spend many times the price of this thing to get a better product. This was my first purchase of a Wen product and it led me to buy one of their drill presses, and I also just received a dial indicator from them. I've been completely satisfied with all of them. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good tool... after a simple rework! *by on Reviewed in the United States 14 January 2025* Exactly as stated by several people who bought it. I spent a few hours after disassembling it (watching carefully, for reassembly). I cleaned off all the factory oil film. I polished all the friction areas using 600 grit sandpaper. This removed some small roughness and burrs. After thoroughly cleaning the threads of the worm screws (Longitudinal Feed, Cross Feed and Leadscrew) I observed if there were any imperfections. I don't know if I was lucky, the CV413 unit I received came with very well-defined threads. After all the above process, I lubricated the rails, bearings, worm screws, and even the handles, all with a layer of WD-40 Specialist White Lithium Grease Spray. I reassembled the vise, readjusted the screws that define the longitudinal and transverse displacement pressure and the result was excellent and surprising, showing that the WEN is a good quality tool, needing only a little rework after leaving the box. Smooth movements without play, except in the crank handles when reversing the direction of movement. Yes, that was the only downside... It is a small deficiency mentioned by others, however, it does not compromise the tool in my humble opinion. Anyway, great cost-benefit! With this procedure, I would recommend its purchase without any hesitation. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Realistic expectations *by on Reviewed in Australia 11 July 2026* The vice is solid and put to use with my drill press. I can clamp the vice in-place and have a rigid base to drill into.I'm also realistic about the vice positioning precision. The X-Y movement has a lot of movement slackness, especially the bottom "X" axis movement.
