To answer the most popular questions: YES it holds either system. The SNES mini (2018 model) does fit in this, I admit, it is snug, but not in a harmful way. The two controllers fit on the side. And there's plenty of room in the top mesh for all of your cables, wall wort, and if you have cable extenders, you can fit those in there as well. I have a total of 40ft worth of cable extensions up there along with all the other cables and the case still closes perfectly without stress or strain. Yes the outside of the case is hard so there's plenty of protection. No, the case is not fire proof. I do not know if it is water proof, it should hold up in a downpour for a couple minutes without a problem, but I didn't take it to the local swimming pool to test, so assume it is not water proof. Overall, I am very pleased with this case, it surpassed my expectations.
