Review: Excellent filtration, convenient features - I’ve had a Culligan filter pitcher of the same capacity as this PUR model, but filters for it are no longer available, so it was time for a replacement. I saw that the PUR got great reviews, and I was not disappointed in my choice. The PUR filters quite quickly, easily 3 times as fast as the Culligan. Our water here is heavily chlorinated, the worst I’ve ever experienced; it smells almost like pool water. After filtration through the Culligan it still had a faint taste of chlorine; but after filtration through the PUR, there was no residual chlorine odor or taste. The water tasted great! This was using the standard PUR filter. The pitcher has some very nice features: there’s a round hatch for filling the reservoir, so no need to remove the entire top. The lid itself locks onto the pitcher, so when pouring it out, the lid stays firmly attached. Another great feature is the little flap over the pour spout; this keeps the pitcher completely closed until you pour, as it opens automatically and closes itself when you’re done.
