Review: Highly recommended - This is an excellent product, easy to set up and use, with great results. I had previously tried scanning old slides with an Ion “slides forever” device, but the quality was terrible because of low resolution. This Magnasonic is more expensive but there’s no contest when it comes to quality. The resulting images are clear and bright. You have to feed slides manually but it’s quick and easy - each slide pushes the previous one out the other side. Exposure or colour can be adjusted when (rarely) needed, though not in detail. The device has a very small internal memory so it’s advisable to buy some standard SD cards for bulk processing. Important note: it will only work with lower capacity cards - 2GB recommended (which will hold a few hundred images). Files can be transferred to computer via card reader or direct from the device. No software needed.
Review: Effective slide coverter - Converted transparencies/slides over 60 years old into jpegs. Pretty easy to operate and able to adjust brightness and colour balance, viewing the slide on the screen. Once image is saved to USB - not included and required for the unit to function - the images can be transferred to a computer and further enhanced using an edit function. Also converted stills from a 16mm film from some 70 years ago. Not such good quality but more down to the original technology. Yet to try negatives. A very good piece of kit for the amateur and cheaper than sending them off to a company to do. Not very time consuming and actually fun to go through 30 years of family history.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How well does this handle plastic(Agfa) slides**
A: I scanned some.kodak plastic slides absolutely fine

**Q: Will this copy slides in plastic mounts?**
A: Yes - I've managed to scan all my slides in plastic mounts - some of the mounts have been slightly thicker than others but I've still managed to get them in and scan ok.

**Q: What power source is needed**
A: Thank you for your question!

You will need a USB power adapter such as a phone charger with a 5 Volt 1 Amp output rating. You can also power it using most PC/Laptop USB ports.

**Q: Do you *have* to have SD card? I'm reading conflicting reports.**
A: Hi Lily, thanks for your question!

While it does have some internal storage, it's enough to hold about 5-10 images. We highly recommend using an SD card.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent viewer, easy to use
*by M***E on 16 May 2025*

I bought this to look through some old slides that I found at my mum's house whilst clearing it out. I wanted an easy way to view a large bag of slides from the 1960s - 1980's. This is so easy to use. You put the slide in the adapter provided, and then manually push the slide through the viewer with the next slide. It's easy to change the colour and brightness if you need to. Then just 1 press will capture the image onto the SD Card for you. It's only a few seconds per scan, and they are good quality. The picture above is from 1972, I did not edit any colour balance. I think the Magnasonic has produced a brilliant image. It is cheaper than other viewers out there, but it is certainly not lacking in quality. Again, as others have said, if your source image is faded or poor, then you won't get a brilliant scan, but otherwise I have absolutely no issues with it.
