I notice some people have the slit part of the metal shaft at the top. photos from the manufacturer also show the metal shaft with the slit opening at the bottom closer to where the very end of the tip would be. Not sure how long the upper thick plastic part will last, but just having the heavy duty metal base is worth it, even if I have to make a new upper part. I might coat the upper round part with high temp silicone which will help it last longer. To help the upper plastic part last longer I plan to coat it. Automotive stores sell a super high temperature silicone for engine gaskets that is black color.
