Not much brighter than similar light I bought which was advertised as 300 lumen max although a whiter light than they other light I am comparing it to.Solid construction. Front piece unscrews easily without battery inserted, but with battery you likely need to remove lens to hold the LED assembly. These units do not have recesses for spanner wrench or quarter like the other model I have.This is day a 1 review so I'll see what I think after I use for a while.Update: I can't turn this light on & off without changing modes to save my life. Most similar lights use light press to change modes & full press to turn on & off but I can't make it happen with these. I did not contact vendor for response but both behave the same. ### ⭐⭐⭐ HyperLite with a Fair Amount of Hyperbole *by S***Y on Reviewed in the United States on May 30, 2017* At 5US$ each, it's — OK — just.It's a pair of single AA flashlights (ships without batteries) with the typical three basic modes— High, Low, and Strobe. It has the basic 'tactical' design features— black anodized aluminum body, tail cap button, flutes, and castellated bezel. The pair come in a very inexpensive replica of a Pelican-type case.Though it seems reasonably sturdy, this is light is not anything that qualifies 'army gear' (the logo on the body) and would never meet any mil-spec gear. The tail cap has an O-ring and the 'zoom' head feels like it has one also, but I wouldn't bet on this being waterproof for very long. Drop it in a puddle or bucket of water and get it out fairly quick and I think you'd be ok.Each time the light is turned On, it's in the High mode. If you turn it Off and On quickly it will be in the next mode. To cycle through them and get the one you want, a light touch on the button without actually clicking it Off/On will do the job.While the specs say it's 8W I'd guess that's closer to 4W each, and even that's a stretch. The light is at best in the 300L range and that's being generous. The ad says 100,000hrs of life for the LED and that's pretty much double what quality manufacturers rated their bulbs. It's possible that these LEDs are under driven. POSSIBLE.The performance is fairly mediocre. The beam looks best when 'zoomed' to its widest point, but it's not great. Flashlight aficionados will be disappointed. There's a mild hot spot with a yellowish border caused by the diffraction of the lens. 'Zoom' to the narrowest beam and you actually see the image of the LED projected on a wall. If only it was shaped like a bat… Throughout that range the main portion of the beam is surrounded by a weird ring of light with tiny little spikes.If you spend *any* time outside at night and need a good beam, save your money and get something better. A quality LED, lens, and reflector will make better use of the light, putting it where it will do some real good. It's not BAD, but leans a little more towards novelty than utility.All that said, for the money it fits easily in a purse or jacket pocket, but might be better in the glovebox, or kitchen drawer, tackle box. It'll light up a walkway, or get you around the house in the event of a power failure. Even at this low price, I won't be buying anymore. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I will be buying again. These are bright - simple focus and very well made *by K***S on Reviewed in the United States on April 12, 2017* These are great. Well made and worth twice the price. I love the fact that they use a single AA battery - for the same price as a AAA battery they have 2.4 times the energy capacity and I put the two other batteries in the case for spares (most cheap lights use 3 AAA batteries) And I have (myself) Never had a flashlight that uses AAA batteries work in an emergency if I stored the batteries in the flashlight. Corrosion seems to be the issue and battery brand does not seem to make a difference. I must add that I live in the NW ( think rain forest) but do use care to keep my gear dry. I truly like/love LEDs and these are very well made.
