Use a stiff bristle cleaning brush or Star brite Medium Scrub Pad to spread product evenly. Allow Teak Cleaner & Brightener to remain on surface for approximately two to three minutes before scrubbing. Scrub in the direction of wood grain to ensure deep cleaning before thoroughly rinsing wood with fresh water. Severely dirty or stained wood may require a second application and use of Star brite Stainless Steel Teak Scrub pad. For lightly weathered teak, wet wood with fresh water, apply Teak Cleaner & Brightener, using a bristle brush or medium scrub pad to spread evenly over surface to be treated. Scrub lightly to remove dirt and stains. Rinse thoroughly with fresh water. After cleaning wood, apply Star brite Premium Golden Teak Oil to enhance natural wood color and preserve and protect the restored wood. Rinse off spills and drips onto surfaces not being treated. I bought this a year ago for my really neglected teak table & chairs - like haven't cleaned or oiled it i. 3 or 4 years, sits outside in full sun. I put this product in a spray bottle,sprayed it on the surface, let it sit for a couple of minutes & then used the Starbrite teak scrub sponge to scrub it. The scrub sponge worked so much better than a scrub brush from what I observed. Also can get it in between chair slats if you are feeling reall OCD. I scrubbed the entire surface with the spray and the sponge and then rinsed it with the hose. I don't think the pics I took do it justice; whole set looks like new. I did use the sander to quickly knock off a few rough spots but really the metal sponge took care of the majority of that. Wearing a mask is good if you are spraying this like I did; if it blows back in your face you will be coughing. The combination is going to be do just about the same but some cleaning / brightening power will have to be sacrificed for the combination. **Q: Recommend sanding before or after applying Teak Cleaner & Brightener?** A: I'd recommend sanding beforehand. I didn't do that, and although it helped bring back some of the lustre of the wood it didn't do as much as I'd have liked. I scrubbed like a crazy person ahead of time but I'm not that strong and I was a little disappointed in the end result. **Q: Can my baby use this product a lot?** A: Only if your baby is made of teak. **Q: Is this product harmful to plants?** A: Not harmful but doesnt work by combining the cleaner and brightener it is too weak. Even the original cleaner is no longer full strength. I had to use the cleaner over 4 days and applications with contact wire brush scrubbing.
