The Roaring Rails’ powerful locomotive sounds its horn and rings its bell to warn everyone along the line that nothing can deter this train from finishing its route. Roaring Rails features a DCC sound-equipped GP40 with a diesel sound package that includes prototypical prime mover, three air horns, and bell–all in polyphonic 16-bit sound that you can control with our E-Z Command digital control system. This digitally controlled train set with sound features: DCC sound-equipped EMD GP40 diesel locomotive with operating headlight, box car, gondola, wide-vision caboose, E-Z Command Control Center with wall pack and speed controller, body-mounted E-Z Mate couplers, 34" x 24" oval of snap-fit nickel silver E-Z Track including 11 pieces of curved track, 4 pieces of straight track, and 1 plug-in terminal rerailer, illustrated instruction manual.

Review: Roaring Rails DCC - My first DCC train. For the price, this is a good N scale starter set. So far, works well. DCC and sound are pretty amazing in such a small locomotive. Would recommend this as a first N scale train, but if you really get into these trains, they can become very expensive. This scale is very small for young kids. I would prefer HO, but don't have the room. I had HO and N over thirty years ago. The quality has gone up, and so has the price.
Review: Works great for me. - Some folks prefer Kato track. The Bachmann track works fine for me. I haven't yet tried connecting the frogs in the turnouts from the expansion sets. This was a fine way to get a DCC system, with a sound-equipped engine. Doesn't compare with systems costing 3 times as much, but you wouldn't expect it to. When I first set it up and powered on the loco, my response was "YES!!". Buying this set has triggered me to buy far too much other N-Scale stuff.

**Q: is 24"x 34" oval measured frm outer rail?**
A: No as far as I have found out it is measured from the center of the two rails, hope this was helpful.

**Q: When idling, can you hear the diesel sound? And when moving you can hear the diesel speeding up? Not just the noise of just the electric motor?**

A: no, none that i am aware of

**Q: Can you run two engines?**
A: yes, you can run more than one engine, you can run them at the same time, or you can program each loco to run separate,
the instructions to program each loco is in the manual

My first DCC train. For the price, this is a good N scale starter set. So far, works well. DCC and sound are pretty amazing in such a small locomotive. Would recommend this as a first N scale train, but if you really get into these trains, they can become very expensive. This scale is very small for young kids. I would prefer HO, but don't have the room. I had HO and N over thirty years ago. The quality has gone up, and so has the price.

It is a great little set to get started with, definitely plug and play. After the train goes around a few times you will be looking for expansion sets lol.
