I can see which way it faces, but it remains locked even in the open position. It's enough to make me look elsewhere (unless I can find this lotion with the older plunger). Very sad. I've used this for years. **Q: Is this aloe Vera free?** A: yes, if I know the answer. **Q: Phthalates Free?** A: We don't use Diethyl phthalate (DEP), which is used to mix fragrance ingredients. We hope this helps. **Q: Is this some very good lotion and do it keep your skin Moisturize and soft and do it have a nice smell** A: I think it is a good lotion, and I don't mind the smell, but thats a personal thing as to whether you'd like it or not.
