Just the final sentence, and his lineage. "Amen!," his pen swept out the wide, detailed Arabic characters, "I have completed it! Naught more can I do! The future is in thy hands, thou who shall read this writing!" And that was as far as he got! Thunder crashed across the sky! But it was as nothing to the roar of triumph that resounded and echoed inside his head! Sheer terror struck his heart. "Oh, my god and goddess!" he screamed, "Save me from the powers of the Old Ones, and the horrors of beyond!" But the voice roared with laughter, "THY GOD AND GODDESS WILL NOT HELP THEE NOW!" it bellowed, "I, AZATHOTH, THE CRAWLING CHAOS, HAVE WON! BE AWARE, MORTAL, AND DESPAIR! THE SPELLS AND CHANTS THAT THOU HAST SO CAREFULLY WRIT, FAR FROM BINDING, WILL RELEASE! THE OLD GODS WILL BE FREED! THOU HAST DOOMED THE WHOLE OF THY PITIFUL HUMAN RACE TO DESTRUCTION!" With a scream of despair, the Arab reached out to the pile of manuscript in a desperate attempt to destroy that which he had written. But it was far too late. Al-Hazred's heart failed him, and he collapsed to the earth floor. Thus was The Necronomicon, the most evil book in creation, completed, with the death of its author. It was due to destroy other lives in its existence ... Joseph S. Dale lives in Auckland, New Zealand. "I have always been interested in H.P. Lovecraft, whose Cthulhu Mythos I freely adapted for this story." Publisher's website: http: //sbpra.com/JosephSDale Review: Short but sweet bit of Alhazredic-Lore. - This short Novella uses Lovecraft's History Of The Necronomicon as a springboard & is also historically inaccurate. The Author places Azathoth & Nyarlathotep as being Demonic Entities., out to steal Souls from the unwary & unleash destruction upon all mankind. Azathoth is easily thwarted by calling-upon Allah's of Yahweh's assistance. However, as asinine as this plot may seem, the Writer from New Zealand, Joseph S. Dale's Writing is mostly impeccable , making It a joy to read. A deftly penned bit of Pseudabiblia & Alhazredic Lore. Review: Delightful piece of Cthulhic lore - Okay, so this book isn't history. But it is fun, a lot of fun. The author uses a series of eight vignettes to trace the history of the Necronomicon's malevolent role in a series of unrelated events. If anything, this is a cautionary tale warning those who dabble in the occult not to take themselves too seriously. While you may think you know what you are doing, Azathoth and his friends (more likely fiends) probably have other ideas. I agree with the previous reviewer that this monstrous creature of ancient and diabolic evil is defeated far too easily in these stories. While I agree with the author that the Lord God and Creator no doubt has the ability to stop the Old Ones, I think it would take considerably more faith and experience than the protagonists of these tales display. That, fortunately, is a problem for theologians and philosophers, not the everyday reader. I didn't know what to expect when I opened this book, but I loved every minute of it. Highly recommended to fans of HPL. PS: My sincere thanks to the previous reviewer. Your comments helped me decide to go ahead and buy this book. ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | Best Sellers Rank | #5,819,366 in Books ( See Top 100 in Books ) #43,282 in Dark Fantasy #52,545 in Paranormal Fantasy Books | | Customer Reviews | 5.0 out of 5 stars 3 Reviews | ## Images ![Azathoth Rising: A History of The Necronomicon - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/81KZ42FmbbL.jpg) ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Short but sweet bit of Alhazredic-Lore. *by B***Y on March 9, 2018* This short Novella uses Lovecraft's History Of The Necronomicon as a springboard & is also historically inaccurate.
