For your animal's safety, if your dog chews hard, this will eventually have small pieces break off, causing an ingestion hazard. I don 't know if a dog would just pass these pieces or if they would partially digest the pieces and make them sick. It says the material is not for ingestion. I switched to elk antlers. A little more expensive. but they keep my dog busy for long periods, they're not messy, and are as safe for them as a soup bone. The large antlers (you'd only need one) last the best.
