It's a 4 inch shelf followed by another 8 inches of space for a full paper towel roll. It sticks WAY out from the wall control pegboard. The real estate it takes up on my tool wall would be better utilized in holding tools. 5-stars for quality, minus 1 for design/execution and fit for my needs. If you can afford the real estate, go for it, otherwise just mount a paper towel roll on the wall.
