Review: Very good carpet protection - After recently replacing the carpet on our basement stairs, I wanted to preserve the new look for a while. I bought this protector to try out. I am happy using it. I wanted to minimize the appearance of a dirt path on the steps and this does the trick. Yes, this is thin, foam backed material but there is a slight stretch and it is durable. It's been perfect for our carpeted stairs to the daylight basement where there is heavy traffic in our 2-person household. You'll notice it grabs up a bit of debris from your "up/down" - but think about it: if it were not on this protector it would be in the carpet . In the past, I have cleaned it up by shaking it out and vacuuming but recently I just washed it as the instructions say: On "Delicate" warm or cold water; tumbled dry on "Low", till dry and voila - like new. I'm not sure how many washings it can handle with time. For right now, the protector is minimizing the appearance of a carpet crush path. And it IS a ONE person job pulling up AND laying back down; I've tried it both ways and it is best for one person. Roll up the protector to take off and once laundered, roll it up before applying again. That way you just unroll it into place from top step - down a step at a time to place - to bottom, easy-peasy.

I returned this product and ordered instead from Carpet Saver. Also, it wasn't until I entered a return request that it said there would be a 15% restocking fee. **Q: I've 13 steps will the 20in cover all of the stairs?**
A: The product is 20 FEET long not 20 INCHES. Typically, a stair is 7.75" deep x 10 Inches tall. If you have typical stairs, then the 20' x 30" size should fit your 13 stair staircase.

**Q: Will this move and/or slip on carpet? Looking for a solution for slippery carpeted stairs**
A: The one adheres to the carpet so it does not slip.  It had been terrific for keeping my stairs clean

**Q: Will it stick to shaggy carpet?**
A: Amazon Customers LOVE our Carpet and Floor protectors, and they stick to all types of carpet. Just like your foot stepping on the carpet, if the floor protector is on shaggy carpet that is particularly tall or dense, it will sink in. That will be evident when using this product also so there may be some play or movement from walking on it.

**Q: Does it leave marks on carpeted stairs?**
A: This is the third one I've had, over a 30-plus year period (the first was a gift). No marks on the carpet, and considering how dirty these covers eventually get (even with washing) over a 10-year period, they definitely save the carpet.

This product does not stick to the carpet. I had previously ordered a product from "Carpet Saver" and thought this was the same thing. It definitely is not the same. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Perfect for protecting wool carpet during construction-

I purchased several Laminat runners for my wool carpeted staircase. I covered my white and grey carpet with this soft, sturdy, harmless protection while all the finishing sub contractors came and went after the carpet was put down. It protected the carpet completely. Traditional plastic protection is not recommended for wool carpet as it causes piling, etc. These felted "laminat" brand runners were cut-able and did the trick. They've been down for about 3 weeks now. I heard they are washable (because they have gotten dusty and dirty from all the coming and going,) but I don't have the time to wash them so I don't know how they would wear thru the wash/dryer. I bought several and even cut them to go around a circular mid point in the staircase. Every few days I would need to readjust them since they do move or fold over from traffic. But they aren't slippery for the workers like plastic, they don't stick to my carpet and they stay in place pretty well. I spent a lot of time researching the internet for a quick deliver solution during this hectic construction time. The carpet retailer didn't even know about this brand. I'll use it for every construction project going forward. Well worth every penny!
