We actually discovered that the fan blades can be installed prior to hooking up the wiring but that is not the way the instructions are written. Aside from that the fan works great once it's installed. We have now a total of four Harbor Breeze Mazon fans installed in our house - we liked the design and wanted to maintain a consistent look throughout our house. Three are Bronze color and the fourth one is Nickel/Silver.
