The first one (different brand) came broken and I had to return it but I noticed that it was too deep for the electrical box. This one fits... barely, but it fits in a standard electrical box. Very important because most of these types of units have a large circuit board and they do not fit in a standard box. The message is that if you are using a standard surface mount or recessed electrical box to install your volume control make sure you check the dimensions. This one fits and it is also nice that it has two volume controls, one for each speaker.
