A 20 volt input will require approximately 20 amps from the source to acheive 30 amps at 12 volts. When you mentioned 2a or 12a battery, did you mean amp hour rating? If the source is lithium batteries with a high output rating of 20 amps or more, or a common lead acid battery, you will be OK but only for short periods of time if you only have 2 ah of capacity. "Amp hours" refers to capacity not ability to provide amps.
