I decided against surgery, so recovery is going to be long and painful. I tried the “waterproof” fabric bags with the screw on lid, but they are difficult to fill with one hand and I had a hard time twisting the top of the bag to keep the air out while screwing on the lid. Instructions from other users are not helpful.** A: There is a groove in the part of the clamp that is not attached. Put ice in, pull the bag over the taped part of the clip flat and centered. Bend the clip at the hinge to go over the folded bag sitting on the other side of the clip. It is hard to clip and release but they do not leak. These are used in hospitals. **Q: How to open clamp closure** A: I’m not really sure if I understand the question because it looks like most of it is missing. But it looks like someone wants to know about the closure. It’s a plastic clamp that has a hinge on one end and a “V”-clasp at the other end. To open it you push and hold the clasp in, pulling and releasing it. I’m not really sure what else i can even say about it. It’s a basic clip; you basically unclip it. **Q: can these be used with hot water ?** A: I have not seen anything advising against use with hot water but I don't believe that is the intended use for these bags. These are the same as what were used during my knee surgery when I was in the hospital and I believe they are intended for use with crushed or pellet ice of some sort. Hospitals use this product so I thought to myself “ self, if it’s good enough for hospitals I should try it”. It has a clamp that fits tightly. It doesn’t leak. There are 5 of them which is a good supply or can be shared with others. The size is big enough to be used anywhere on the body . After the ice melts it can be refilled.
