It's catches colors. You add it to your washer when washing new clothes or a load of colored clothes if you think the colors will run. I love these sheets! I've have never had an issue. Highly recommend. **Q: Can these be used in the dryer as a dryer sheet instead of putting them in the water?** A: I don’t feel that they, if your using them as intended to stop color transfer, would be effective. The worst thing in the world is spending months on a quilt and it coming out of the wash with color bleeds all over it. There's no fixing that, so buy these color catchers and all the extra ink absorbs into them, you can see it when it comes out of the wash, pretty cool. I sometimes use them for regular clothes washing and they perform well with that task as well. They're easy to use and cheap to buy.
