It fits an American Standard round bowl and the white color is proper. The detachable feature is nice and the bolts are steel. I had a cheaper seat that I gave back - the lid was so thin that you can't sit on it without its collapsing - this one is stronger. If you can't find the instructions that's because they are printed on the outside of the box and are not very clear to read or follow but it does work logically. The inside of the box has the product, two attachment sets and two little rubber feet that go to fill their spaces under the seat. That means that when you drop the seat, rubber, not plastic hits the rim. All in all it is a good product - better than the cheap wooden ones with the heavy lid that doesn't completely cover the seat or the cheap thin plastic ones that collapse.
