## Description

The Howard Leight Impact Sport Electronic Earmuff features a super-slim earcup that makes it ideal for most environments. The cutaway at the bottom of the earcup is specially designed to provide firearm stock clearance while aiming. Two high-gain microphones deliver 4X sound amplification of range commands or forest noises for excellent situational awareness. The mics are also omni-directional to let you know exactly where sounds are coming from. Hearing protection is ensured as the electronic earmuff actively listens and automatically shuts off amplification when loud impulse sounds like gunfire reach 82 dB. It carries a Noise Reduction Rating (NRR) of 22 in both on and off mode. The padded headband features telescopic height adjustment for a comfortable, customized fit. An external audio jack lets you connect the earmuff to a music player, scanner or other audio source. The battery delivers approximately 350 hours of usage, and the automatic shut-off feature engages after four hours to help save battery life. All Howard Leight safety earmuffs and safety eyewear are compatible for use with each other.

Review: Baseline Earpro for a Reason - Possibly every single modern shooting enthusiast owns a pair of these and a pair of Razors. Razors are popular because there's nothing else that cheap and their marketing is borderline magic, but these guys are popular because, despite being a bit rough around the edges with room for improvement, they get the basic idea right so darned well that they're still a heavyweight competitor in the realm of budget electronic earpro, even after a decade. The amplification is, despite being analog, excellent. It really does feel like super hearing (though music and sharp sounds make the mics peak HARD), and the outside design is unquestionably intelligent. Whoever engineered the things put a lot of thought into what slim form factor ear protection should look and act like and it shows. Aside from that, they are thin-REALLY thin. If you're willing to invest a bit in gel pads, they're practically nonexistent on your head, deapite blocking plenty of sound. As for the guts, they're soldered well, the wires are well-put-together, and generally it doesn't look like a high school student's first wiring project. I'd strongly argue in favor of Peltor's Rangeguards and Sport 100s over these (digital circuitry and Peltor magic goes far, man!), but considering how reliable, effective, affordable, and comfortable these things are with the aftermarket and comms capability they have, they're not just worse Pelts. I have several pairs and have dumped plenty of money into upgrades, and I can attest that they easily bully models twice and even thrice their price, upgrades included in competitors. Get a pair if you care about your ears.
Review: Absolutely love it ! - I was looking for a good electronic affordable ear protection head muffs and one of my friend recommended these. I must say wow! they are just great. - Fit: Initially right out of the box, when I tried to wear them, they felt a bit off to me. Then after some adjustment I felt that they fit me good and decided to take them to the range the next day. I was wearing my ear plugs and the howard Leight on top of it. They are very comfortable and does not create any pressure points which causes pain after wearing it for a long time. - Sound cancellation: They cancel out loud frequencies pretty well. I have to keep the volume control maxed out to hear the conversations because I also wear ear plugs inside my head muffs. That's not a big deal, once I turn these on, I can hear people whispering, I can hear actions clicking :). Its a fun experience when the loud frequencies are cut out and you can still hear range commands and people talking around you very clearly. I love it. - Compactness They are very compact once folded in but I don't do it anymore coz this changes the adjustment of the ear cups that you have done initially. I don't have any issues with space so I just don't fold it. - Music Well I have tried this, I have tried listening to music by connecting my iphone to the jack while I am shooting. It works pretty well but it just gives me an odd feeling :). I want to be attentive of my surroundings when I am shooting rather than listening to music and just being careless.. - price The price is just right and you get much more quality for the price you pay. Its good bang for the buck. - Rifle cheek wield I guess most of us have the concern whether the rifle cheek wield would be good with any ear muffs? Well in case of Howard Leight its not an issue. This is because of their ear cup shape. The bottom part of the cup is thinner as compared to the top part. The bottom part of the cup is shaved off to create this space that helps you wield your rifle butt better to the cheek. I shot around 250 rounds wearing these for over a period of 3+ hours and they were perfect for me. no issues. I highly recommend this to anyone who is looking to get into electronic noise cancellation ear protection. Thanks.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fantastic value - my favorite hearing protection (update)
*by V***K on April 30, 2016*

Five stars EASY. I've had my pair of Impact Sport hearing protection for three years now I think, or there abouts. I've used mine at work, running heavy equipment 80+ hours a week and laboring all manner of dirty jobs on large demo and construction projects. I absolutely love these. Are they the highest tech? No. Are they the most comfortable? No. Are they the highest level of sound damping available? No. What they are, and why they receive such high regard from myself, is very good for their intended purpose in every respect, especially for the price. One can certainly spend a lot more, as a matter of fact a couple of my co-workers have the high-end 3M head gear with the Bluetooth this and bells and whistles that, but they are bulkier, much more expensive and those guys are constantly babying their sets. I've never worried about babying mine. I take care of them like anything else I own; I don't kick them around or anything, but I have used and used and used them some more. They've floated around in my dirt crusted duty bag for weeks at a time, bouncing around the floorboards in a rock truck for days, been used and banged around on construction and demo projects and been subjected to thousands of rounds of small arms fire and, the ultimate test - my kids have played with them. The audio clarity on these is very good, if not perfect, and I get an amplification boost which I'm spoiled for. I can hear better with these on and I never get the feeling that my auditory sense is hindered. With a couple of lesser rigs that I've had (one of which actually cost twice as much), I would keep getting the feeling that I wasn't hearing things... "correctly" due to the sound quality and a lack of directional sense. Consequently, I would find myself compelled to lift them off of my ears at times to cue in to sounds that I'd heard. Not so with these; I never feel compelled to lift them off to hear better. I can wear mine for hours without discomfort and the batteries last so long, even at full amplification, that I don't have a guess as to how many hours they actually last - a long frikken time. They're low profile which lends them better usage under more "dynamic" work conditions; they just don't get in the way. I've also used mine during target practice with compensated 308 Win and 10mm Auto. These earmuffs are enough protection that damage does not occur even under the high decibel hammering dealt out by those arms. No ringing in the ears even under the brutal, cranium splitting, muzzle blast of rapid fire compensated arms. When I'm operating equipment and the cab noise is high, I put these on and set the audio so I'm comfortable. My ears are protected and I can still hear things like the VHF in the cab, horns and voice commands and engine noise perfectly. Like I said before though, these are not the highest level of sound protection you can get. If you're used to using the big, high NRR stuff, these might seem a little light. I call them just right and I give them 5 Stars. Update: Still going strong! It's 1/14/17 now. I'm wearing these on a daily basis in my shop, still using these when I'm shooting and I also wear these when I'm out cutting firewood with a chainsaw. Sub-zero temperatures, snow, years of rugged use in general have not stopped these things. Mine still work like new, although they no longer look new by any measure. These have been a great value. When this pair finally go the way of Chesty Puller and Audie Murphy, I'm getting another set of the same.
