## Description

Pond Shield is a non-toxic epoxy liner, made in the U.S.A designed for the pond and water feature industry. It is used to waterproof and seal water features or ponds with a more designer, formal or natural look than rubber liners. Using Pond Shield epoxy means no more unsightly folds or creases. In addition, unlike rubber liners, there are eleven Standard colors available - Black, Charcoal Gray, Chocolate Brown, Clear, Competition Blue, Delta Blue, Gray, Moss Green, Sky Blue, Tan and White. Pond Shield is used for waterproofing structured surfaces found in water features such as Koi ponds, pools, fountains, aquariums, salt water tanks, hydroponics, streams, waterfalls, reflecting pools, mini lakes, holding tanks, etc. It is easily applied and easy to maintain and for most applications, a single coat application is all that is needed for proper coverage. In addition, your pond will be virtually maintenance free with a surface that algae can be easily wiped off of and is safe for fish (and other wildlife) and plants. Pond Shield offers both strength and flexibility in a coating in fact, strength and flexibility that is tested from -78 Degree F to 140 Degree F. Pond Shield is an epoxy pond liner that has been specifically designed to bond to porous or abraded materials such as concrete, wood, stone, most metals (treated and non-treated), brick, most ridged plastics, tile and many more. With a tensile bond strength stronger than the internal strength of the concrete, a single coat of Pond Shield epoxy will stick to what you apply it to. Over time, hairline cracks can form in concrete, mortar or grout joints. Being flexible, Pond Shield resists mimic cracking in these areas and provides the best protection possible in a coating.

Review: Great product - Look forward to seeing how it holds up over time! - After reading so many of the less than favorable reviews, and having worked with epoxies for woodworking, we decided to give this product a go. The product arrived quickly, the cans were clearly marked "A" and "B", and clear instructions were provided in the box. The color was clearly labeled, and was correct when we opened the can as well. We have a outdoor birdbath/pond (~10' by 3', 1' deep) that a relative had build back in the late 60's, and which was now leaking. We had tried mortar, hydraulic cement and other wildlife friendly products to no avail. We read the instructions several times to ensure we know the process and decided to use 91% isopropyl alcohol to thin the epoxy for an easier application on the ruff surfaces - we did sweep and clean the pond, then used muriatic acid to etch the surfaces as instructed, then rinsed and let the pond dry out. We began the process in the cool morning to ensure we preserved the "pot time" of the epoxy. We planned to mix the epoxy in three batches, and after measuring into plastic paint pales with measurements printed on the outside, we mixed the components in order, per the instructions and mixed for for just under 2 minutes before pouring the epoxy from the mix pale onto the pond surface. We used an inexpensive, synthetic brush that we had cut down (that was a small challenge) to spread the epoxy and work our way down the pond length, covering the sides and bottom. Each of the three epoxy batches began to thicken in ~25 minutes - the isopropyl alcohol was a recommend "add" for our application and size of surface area. We ended up having to order a second epoxy set as we were not able to get the final 2 sq feet, but we did have a rough surface (aggregate cement bottom) and several cracks absorbed more epoxy than we expected - they likely should have been caulked with a compatible material. After letting the epoxy cure for nearly 36 hours, we filled the pond and it looks great. And the wildlife were using it within 24 hours. I'll update this in the future to see how this holds up.
Review: Good material, bad packaging - This is good stuff. As i wanted, it's very thick. Does not run which just what you need to paint with epoxy. The can seal is not good. It it's very frustrating to remove. There are no hints in how to remove. I cut it off but desired the can in the process. But don't need the can if you use it all as i did. The stuff is so thick it does not pour out of the can. It's like a blizzard. It should come in a squeezable bag or something.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Updated instructions
*by T***R on October 21, 2025*

I did a 2x2x6 stock tank with 2 of these and it worked out well. The instructions have you sand, vinegar and prime the galvanized coating and that went as expected(I used a flapper disc on my angle grinder after a hand sander made little progress) the updated instructions are different than what’s posted here. It says not to use rustoleum self etching primer but I followed the instructions here while I waited for the product to arrive so I was stuck. I was worried after the first mixing came out a bit spotty once applied (I alcohol thinned this one) but the second coat covered well without thinning. I used a 4in foam roller and it was destroyed quickly so I switched for the second coat. It dried great overnight and stuck well to the surface so far. Dries hard and looks like it will work out well.
