They’re an inexpensive solution for using your Nintendo consoles on a modern HDMI TV. Picture quality is clear and clean. It’s far superior, (for the SNES and N64), than the RF or Scart options. Just remember: if it’s not initial working, turn off the console, flick the switch on the adaptor and turn on the console again. A bonus is this adaptor doesn’t require a USB power supply, which in my previous experience generates a lot of additional heat. Edit: (May 1st) The adapter works just fine on the SNES. Of course it doesn’t improve on the existing graphics. As a side note: I noticed when switching on my N64, the adaptor loaded into a black screen. I thought it was the fault of the adaptor, but after a little research, I discovered the cartridges were dirty. Waverace refused to load at all. I used cotton buds dipped in isopropyl alcohol to clean the pins and now all games work perfectly. One interesting thing that happened was when I switched from a standard, (non-smart) LG TV to a Sharp HD Ready TV: every 10 or 12 minutes the Nintendo 64 reset. My first task was to clean the expansion pak connectors, (again with a cotton bud and isopropyl alcohol), but it only stopped when I flipped the tiny switch on the adaptor, (which gave me no picture previously), and gameplay resumed. It’s a joy to play games like The Ocarina of Time - a modern masterpiece - on the original hardware.
