What dosage?** A: Denamarin has two ingredients - the SaMe (S-Adenosylmethionine), plus Silybin-phosphatidylcholine which is derived from milk thistle. This is NOT the same as Denamarin 1:1 as another commenter said since it has NO milk thistle. If you combine this with a milk thistle supplement you could have a decent substitute but you need to read quantities carefully & compare w/Denamarin info you can find on amazon so you get the right dosage for your dog. This product has one of Denamarin's two key components, the SaMe (S-Adenosylmethionine). This product's 225mg dosage of SaMe (S-Adenosylmethionine) is what the medium dog 13-34 lbs size of Denamarin has. I would use a dog milk thistle supplement rather than a human one so that the dosage isn't too big unless you have a really big dog. There are Coco & Luna milk thistle chewable tablets I might combine with this. Good luck. I'm just a dog mom w/a sick dog, not a vet. That was scary for all of us, so I talked to our vet and he recommended otc SAMe. Came to Amazon, and have been giving him this for a month and a half. It seems to have helped him - he is more alert, is happy, and isn't having moments of confusion ("where am i? where are you?"). While the pill is large for a mini schnauzer, I squoosh it into 1/2 a pill pocket and he eats it right away. Our vet said to give it at least a month, and that seems about right.
