Which one should I use?** A: Use the pointy bits with a drill press "benchtop drill" and the other bits with a hand held drill. **Q: Are these metric or imperial? 6mm is not 1/4", 10mm is not 3/8"..... I need them to fill metric drill holes tightly.** A: The cutter set is metric BUT the plugs produced are VERY tight in the holes when using the corresponding cutter. Using wood glue will also create a hydraulic resistance so great force will be needed to force the plug into its hole, potentially splitting the wood. On another project for an oak floor I needed to make plugs but with matching grain to ensure they were invisible when fitted. However the holes I had previously drilled were 1/2" diameter but came out slightly oversized . I made 13mm plugs using the metric cutter but carefully sanded each plug by hand to create a slight taper and ensure a good fit when knocked into place. Only a very thin layer of adhesive was necessary. Labour-intensive but worth the effort as the end result was a virtually invisible plug. **Q: Does anyone know the maximum depth these can cut into? No information anywhere which seems surprising. I want to cut a plug through 36mm** A: If you intend to drill that deep you will not be able to extract the plug from the cutter without damaging it (the plug).
