Yes, one of them, frugal maybe slightly cheap and must have at least 4-5 uses for something before I purchase. Biggest issue is that I wanted it for a room that has casement windows so I was hesitant to take on something that I knew would require a MacGyver. There, I dated myself with that reference. After the brutal summer in PA last year, I purchased it in March while still on the cheap side. Watched a lot of the customer videos on desertcart that had the same casement windows and of course, Youtube. Purchased and so glad I did. If you have an old house like mine, do not be deterred. The relief I am receiving is worth the little bit of carpentry and MacGyvering I had to do. Even this Spring in PA has been brutal and I needed this relief. Easy to install, the directions were clear. The tubing in the back was easily installed. The price was right. I cannot comment yet on the energy efficiency as I am waiting for my 1st electric bill from it (yikes) but whatever it is, worth it. The noise is no louder than a wall unit I have and I live on a busy street so it helps at night with an almost white noise. The cooling is amazing. I get home from work, turn it on, within an hour the heat becomes bearable. Only have it on the low setting for energy saver and it works perfectly in an approximately 450 sq. ft. area. It switches over to just fan before the room is even cool!** A: If the compressor shuts off after 20mins, or doesn't even turn on and start cooling, then you may be overloading your circuit. I had originally gotten the 14,000 btu unit and it shut it's compressor off after 20 mins, so I returned it for the 12,000 btu unit and have had no problems. Also, the remote has a temp sensor on it, so I removed the batteries from the remote and now the cooling stays on forever. Hope this helps. **Q: Would the exhaust panel fit a vertical window that slides to the right (does it expand to fit)?** A: One fix I found that works better than the supplied window insert is to buy a piece of plexi glass that will fit snugly into the opening and allow you to cut a hole equal to the size of the exhaust hole in the supplied insert. Insert this into the desired window opening with weather strips along the outer edge to fill any gaps or if you wish to keep the exhaust in the window permanently using caulk to fill any gaps. Insert the exhaust as you would with the supplied insert and enjoy less obstruction in you view through the window. If you wish to still use the 2 piece insert to install you exhaust and find it to short to fill the gap use a piece of 1 inch thick board the width of the insert with weather strips attached to fill any gaps needed to install the insert properly saving you time and money in ordering an additional piece. **Q: The air exhaust hose is too short. Where can i get a longer one that will fit the unit?** A: Amazon or your local hardware!! I’m not sure but I think it’s 5 in diameter.. I also need a longer exhaust hose!! **Q: does it shut off completely to save power when temp reach the set temperature? thank you** A: The fan and compressor shut down when set temperature is reached. We barely survived the 116 degree weather without AC, with our apartment getting up to 100 degrees inside at night. I saw another 3-day heatwave was coming so I decided to be prepared and order a portable AC. This one came right on time and I was so happy. We waited the 24 hours to turn it on and when we did, it worked great for a few hours. Our apartment is about 460 sqft, but the room in which we have it in is about 250. It cooled the room very nicely, but it turned off after about an hour or two with an “E3” notification on the screen. I looked it up and it meant I needed to empty the water reservoir, where I realized how poorly designed this ac unit is. The hole in which you’re suppose to drain the water from is only a centimeter or so away from the ground. I couldn’t fit anything under the hole to drain it into - not even a plate! I decided to try to use the pipe it provides to drain it into a nearby cookie sheet, but the pipe refused to stay on the draining hole. I got water everywhere and the rug I had it on was soaked. After emptying the water, it turned back on but then started to make a very loud rattling noise after the compressor turned on. I tried troubleshooting the ac unit for hours while my apartment was in the 90s. Sweaty and annoyed, I called Amazon support and they suggested putting a BLANKET over it to cover the noise! Now I have no AC, it’s going to be in the hundreds over the next couple of days, and i have to figure out how to box it back up after throwing away the box because I thought it was working fine. I did buy this used and it said it was in “very good” condition - apart from some cosmetic issues. This was obviously not tested enough. If I could do it again, I would just put in the extra bucks to buy it new.
