I think I’ve had mine just over a month, and it’s gone. It also is a little coarse, but it is wool, so surprise. Not unbearably so, and there’s also that contradictory, yet true, softness to it. It’s dense, thickly woven, on the heavy side, and pretty warm. Obviously, if you’re sleeping naked you won’t be as warm as if you pulled this over you to watch tv or fell asleep in sweatpants and a sweatshirt. For those of you who watch tv naked, the same applies. It’s marketed as an outdoorsy blanket,m and one of the pictures shows a guy outside with it draped over him while it’s snowing. Wool does retain a good portion of its warmth while wet, but I wouldn’t advise it if this is a vital portion of your camp bedding. It’s one thing if you’re at the cabin and want to drape it over you while around the fire and enjoying the first snow of the season and another all together if you’re carrying it out with your camp pad in the early spring or fall and expecting it to keep you warm. You’ll likely be a bit more miserable, if not at risk. I got it as my primary blanket for a prolonged stay with a friend/housesitting/dogsitting where I had to show up earlier than expected and they weren’t completely prepared. So I ordered some of my own bedding. No biggie. Especially since I ended up with this. Perfect as the primary blanket for a twin bed, like I was staying on. A very cozy sleep. The weight makes me think it’d be good for those with conditions where that helps them. If they were ok with the texture. Might want to have dad break it in on the couch for awhile though, to get the odor out. He’ll want his own.
