I was able to push them in manually almost all the way and then I just gave them a few little taps with a regular hammer. They stand nice and straight and don't budge at all. I installed them yesterday and today for the first time in the 3 years that I'm living here, I woke up to a clean path. This is a wonderful item at a very reasonable price, but I still have a bunch of fence pieces left and only one remaining spike. If I ever want to use the pieces I'll have to buy more spikes.
