This is replacing our older ice maker. Hoshizaki is a dependable brand. Shipping caused a small issue preventing a proper start up. Called customer service and they sent a qualified repar man the next day-at no cost. This is a perfect size for home use and simple to connect.

We have three of these at small businesses for employee use. They love having ice and I hear right away if there is any problem. We run it on reverse osmosis water and it makes beautiful clear cubes. They have been running steadily from five to ten plus years and still going strong except that one has finally quit. The problem is unknown possibly a freon leak. They require cleaning or in my area they develop a dark algae. I presume other brands suffer the same problem. I am doing good to clean twice a year. It takes about two hours and requires that you take apart and wash some of the plastic parts that are reachable through the door but easier if you can remove the lid (two screws). There is a cleaning cycle if you just want to run de-scaler liquid through it.
