    An improvement that needs improvement!

I think they work. Sometimes I can’t tell. They certainly do not get hot enough to tell. Ice has not built up on the squeegee, but I haven’t had a chance to use them in -15. In 30 degree weather it builds up on the frame but not the rubber. They are Better then stock, but they could use some minor improvements. I believe I would shop around before buying another pair.

READ THIS!! the blades work very well. installation may be a head scratcher....

*by P***H on Reviewed in the United States on December 19, 2016*

The blades obviously will work independent of each other as they both have a thermocouple. I had trouble figuring out if they were working after my installation. One worked, the other didn't. I doubted my wiring. The thermocouple warms up quickly as I later found out. Any handling of the thermocouple (I installed them in 30-ish degree weather in my driveway) will result in very quick warmup of the blade and they'll stop working. This is by design obviously (now it's obvious). I removed the blades because I didn't want to trust them on the eve of a long drive I had into a snowy mountain area. For me, it seemed the blades started working more towards 25F degrees (getting really hot). I couldn't feel them working as my fingers were cold when it was near 30-32F degrees. They get hotter when it gets colder. I think I read that somewhere.I called for support and emailed for support as I was fumbling with the installation and subsequent removal and then again reinstallation. I spoke with Ian last Thursday (12/15/2016). I had trouble figuring out if they were working properly as I wasn't getting the high performing temperature I was expecting. I finally had below 25F degree temps that day and they started to perform - albeit erratic (now I know it's because I was handling them a lot). I thought then to stick them in my freezer and attach an ohm meter to them and they showed finally that the circuit was closed and they work working! I installed both and confirmed they are both working! I am sorry for my not being able to figure if my installation was at the root of the trouble and confusion but they are both working at a high temperature.Wish they were better:1 - The youtube videos were convincing to purchase but none shown the pitfalls of DIY installations.2 - I bought these "GEN2" blades because I'll be living in a lake-effect snow area. I would gladly upgrade to a "GEN3" blade in the future if there were two LED status lights on them. The first LED should be that the blade is getting power and ready for work. The second LED should light up when the thermocouple closes due to cold enough temperatures and the blades are indicating a heating mode.Things to think about during/before installation:1- before installing, test them (the quality control shows very good but still) and remove doubt. i installed, wired, wrapped, tied, etc. and then removed the whole thing because I couldn't tell if they were working (all because of temperature!).2- make sure you have a good wiring connection to power and ground. do a good job!3- follow the instruction where it says "close the hood" after installation. The heat rising from the engine could be enough to deactivate the blades and you may find yourself scratching your head and wondering if the blades are working properly.4-follow the instructions where it says "run the wire under the wiper arm". Shade from the sun could be pretty important. Even on a sunny 20F degree day, these blades (thermocouple) may warm up enough to shut off if the sun is beaming down on them.5- i used electrical tape as I didn't like the unsightly view of wire ties to hold the wire to my wiper arms (i'm still re-thinking this). Maybe I'll look into clips like the old days when the windshield washer fluid tubing was clamped to the wiper arms to hold the wire to the arm. my wire ties became brittle and snapped easily in near 0-10F degree temperatures.Thank you to Ian for taking my call. The blades are working great. Week 1 and I'm looking forward to some more snow.

Just not good on a Peterbilt 579

*by B***N on Reviewed in the United States on February 8, 2019*

If your thinking of putting these on a commercial truck, forget about it. The only thing good I have to say about the actual blade is they do heat up so ice is not a problem. Unfortunately, they are not good as a wiper blade, at least not on the tall, vertical windows on your average semi truck. There are a number of problems. When I first got my set of blades, I noticed they had ripples in them and the one piece bar was slightly bent up from the window on both ends. The waveyness caused severe streaking and the bar being bent up made them only sweep and area that was two inches shorter than the blade. I contacted the manufacturer and they where very good about trying to rectify the issue and sent me new units. Unfortunately, the new units also had some of the waveyness though not as much as the originals as well as the bends at each end. I tried warming then up to remove the bend but was never able to get full contact. After all this, I decided the heck with it and installed them with quick connects figuring I'd switch them out for regular wipers in the warm weather and just deal with the streaking in the cold weather since that was still better than freezing blades. Unfortunately, though they are tolerable with snow, they are almost completely useless in the rain, especially at night. They leave behind a thin shean that makes you lose visibility any time there are headlights or street lamps. Its very dangerous. I've noticed this problem before trying other one piece blades in the past. Its possible with a vertical window that these kinds of blades just might not be appropriate.Another problem is the mounting system. I don't know why they went the way they did, but they use a plastic adaptor that pushes the arm a good inch away from the blade frame. If your washer nozzles are mounted to the arm like most big trucks, it changes the pattern and you don't get good fluid coverage any more. On top of that, the adaptor is very fragile and thin where you side it into the j-hook and breaks very easily. When the last one broke on me was when I finally gave up and removed them. The concept of a heated blade is good but the reality when installing this particular brand on a big truck is not. More than likely, the remedy is going to need to be a blade with a normal frame and a standard height mount with more meat at the contract points. They may or may not be good on a smaller vehicle that doesn't have the same challenges. The one bright spot is that their customer service is pretty good which is why the two Star rating instead of just one. Hopefully they see this and go back to the drawing board.
