It revives faded black stone to a rich, wet-look satin finish while providing a water-repellent, UV-resistant barrier that prevents stains, mould, and weather damage. Easy to apply with rollers or brushes, it covers up to 8m² per litre on the second coat and dries to touch in 1-2 hours, making it the go-to solution for maintaining and enhancing patios, paths, and drives. ## Description The SmartSeal black limestone sealer is a protective, colour-restoring sealant for exterior limestone surfaces such as patios and paths. It is also a black limestone sealant or black limestone paint that can transform the look of old, faded limestone patios. Most people who have black limestone paving laid around their properties want to keep the original, black shiny look of the black stone. However, with long-term exposure to weathering and UV light, the original black stone paving will turn a lighter grey over time. This visually unappealing problem can quickly be resolved by the application of the black patio slab sealer. The grey paving stones will quickly return to their original appearance once the black tile sealant, or what some people refer to as a black tile paint, is applied. The black patio sealer wet look is a remarkable patio colour restorer that brings old faded limestone back to its former glory. It also acts as a black grout sealer. The black limestone sealant can also be used as a sandstone sealer, as both sandstone and limestone are porous natural stone substrates. The black pigmented sealer for limestone will absorb into the surface and put the rich black colour back into the surface of the stone. If you want a wet look patio sealer for black limestone that performs really well, then SmartSeal black limestone sealer has been formulated to produce great results every time. The wet look stone sealer can help you avoid expensive replacement of a black limestone patio, by enriching the colour and protecting the surface from deterioration. Apart from the look of the patio once the black stone sealer has been applied, the limestone paving sealer will also help to inhibit the growth of mould, algae and lichens on the surface of the stone by making it waterproof. The water repellent sealer makes the surface of the limestone paving impervious to water, which in turn inhibits the growth of green algae and mould, which tend to thrive on porous substrates. Does this limestone sealant dry to a wet look or dry look finish? The Black Limestone Sealer dries to a slight wet look or satin finish once dry. Over time, it will likely dull down to more of a matte finish. Is it safe for dogs & pets? Once dry, the Black Limestone Sealer is perfectly safe for dogs to walk on. Can the Black Limestone Sealer be used on our driveway porcelain? Would it wear off when driving over it in a car? The Black Limestone Sealer is not formulated for use on porcelain and hasn't been tested for this purpose. However, it would be best to carry out a test patch with a sample first to see if the product meets your expectations. I have purchased Black Limestone Sealant for my limestone coping. What is the recommended drying time before it rains? It is best to apply the Black Limestone Sealer if no rain is forecast 6-8 hours after application. Can this product be used on a black sandstone patio that has faded and is patchy? The Black Limestone Sealer is fine for use on your black sandstone patio. Samples are available to test beforehand. It will revive the vibrant black look of old faded black limestone that has lost colour and gone grey over time. Dull, faded and weathered black limestone can quickly be restored to the rich, deep black original colour when first laid. The black tile sealant also acts as a patio grout sealer, as it will seal and colour the grouting on the patio the same colour as the surrounding paving. - Water Repellent & Stain Resistant: After application, the black limestone sealant creates a protective barrier against rain, contaminants and watermarks that can leave unsightly stains on the surface of black limestone. The black stone patio sealer is frequently used on old black limestone patios to seal and deepen the colour. The black patio sealant will also disguise mild acid etching and other visible staining on exterior black limestone paving. - Colour Boosting Wet Look Finish: Black limestone patios look great when first laid, but will soon fade over time with constant exposure to UV light and general weathering. The colour boosting black sealant for limestone is a stone sealer that can quickly make an old, faded limestone patio look like new. The black patio slab sealer or patio sealant wet look dries to a visually appealing, rich satin finish that can transform the look of any faded grey paving on black limestone patios. - Application & Coverage: Applying the black limestone tile sealant is easy using a roller or microfibre cloth. A brush can be used to cut into areas that may be difficult to reach with the roller or cloth. Coverage of the black stone sealer averages 4-5m² per litre on the 1st coat and 6-8m² per litre on the 2nd coat. The black limestone patio sealer should be touch dry in 1-2 hours and dry enough to walk on in 4 hours. - Lasting Protection to Exterior Black Limestone: Once applied, the black limestone sealer becomes a wet look patio seal that helps protect the surface of patios, paths and drives. The black stone patio sealer is UV-resistant, which will help slow down future colour loss. The black limestone colour enhancer is also a waterproof stone sealer that helps prevent damage from water ingress and frost. ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | Asin | B095J159XR | | Best Sellers Rank | 28,784 in DIY & Tools (See Top 100 in DIY & Tools) 497 in Sealers | | Brand | SmartSeal | | Colour | Black | | Compatible Material | Black Limestone, Limestone, Slate | | Customer Reviews | 4.4 4.4 out of 5 stars (344) 4.4 out of 5 stars | | Included Components | Product Only | | Item Form | Liquid | | Item Weight | 5 Kilograms | | Manufacturer | Smartseal UK Ltd | | Manufacturer Part Number | BLK-LIME-5 | | Material | Acrylic | | Number Of Items | 1 | | Style Name | 5L | | Surface Recommendation | Black Limestone | | Unit Count | 5000.0 millilitre | | Water Resistance Level | Water Resistant | ## Images ![SmartSeal Black Limestone Sealer - 5L - Easy to Apply Black Limestone Patio Sealer. After laying black limestone and cleaning lots there remained a few pitted mortar splashes (as you’d expect) and so decided to seal with a black pigment sealant. It was an amazing result !! The sealant was easy to apply with a roller, quick to dry and apply a second (and third for good measure) coat. The results are stunning, mortar marks disappeared, water simply beads on top of the stone. I looked at the price of normal sealant versus this black pigment one and the delta was so small I decided it was worth the extra cost. It isn’t cheap but I did find it goes a long way. So I will buy again for another much older weathered patio to revive that. The reviews I read before I bought this product were right, amazing product, amazing results, what’s not to love (except maybe a little cheaper would be nice - such is life). ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good product *by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 7 May 2024* I bought a sample tin to try out first of all which cost £7.99. I applied the sealant to a spare patio slap which had broken and based on the results I decided to purchase a 5 litre container at £69.95.My patio is about 32 square metres in size and the 5 litre tin applied one coat to the entire patio and steps with a tiny bit left over. I’ve ordered another 5 litre tin to do my path and to apply a second coat to the patio but only to areas where I think it could do with a touch up.I’m pleased and surprised with the results. My limestone slabs were starting to fade despite only being laid 12 months ago. I’ve attached before and after photos to show the results. I will explain them later.I applied the sealant with a 1 inch brush to paint the joints and a six inch roller to cover the stone surfaces. The job was spread over a couple of days because of our wonderful temperamental weather. The total duration to seal the patio took 4 hours overall. I had to return to a small area by the back door to apply sealant when everybody was out for the day. There is an odour with the sealant but when working out doors it’s fine and the smell does go away quickly once applied. So on to the photos. I’ve taken a few of the patio to show how it used to look and to give you an idea of the area. Then I’ve taken some photos to contrast between the old and new. A few of the photos were taken a day after I’d completed most of the coverage and we’d had heavy rain over night. You can see how the water pools and beads on the patio surface. One of the photos shows a close up of a small area by our back door which I had to do when nobody was home but you can see the difference between the old and new colour. I be taken a close up photo of this section to show the deep black colour once applied. I hope these photos and descriptions are helpful to form an opinion on how effective the product is.As I mentioned earlier I’ve ordered another 5 litre container to do my limestone path next and will post more photos before and after once I’ve been able to do the job. While at first I thought the product was expensive the fact I’ve ordered it again tells you I’m satisfied with and importantly very happy with the finish. More importantly my wife likes it and as the saying goes - happy wife, happy life. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Makes your patio look great every couple of years. *by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 16 March 2026* I'm well placed to review this product now, I initially bought it three years ago based on the reviews here. Its really good as turning the Limestone back to absolute black. Its really easy and quick to apply and dries pretty quickly too. It will splatter a bit if you're not careful but it really looks great after its applied. However, you will probably find you need to re-apply it after 2 years. I've just re-applied it as it had worn off.I think if you consider this to be something you'll do bi-annually then this is a great product. It won't however permanently fix the colour. --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.gr/products/322656661-smartseal-black-limestone-sealer-5l-easy-to-apply-black-limestone](https://www.desertcart.gr/products/322656661-smartseal-black-limestone-sealer-5l-easy-to-apply-black-limestone) --- *Product available on Desertcart Greece* *Store origin: GR* *Last updated: 2026-10-09*
