I have had 2 installed for a couple of years that work flawlessly with the app. The app allows programming as well as change of light intensity, colors or special patterns if needed for your phone).One issue - if there is a power interruption, the light come on and will stay on until the next programmed off cycle. However due to low power consumption- - that is not a concern on my side that warrants a removal of a star. The process for setting up these bulbs is unnecessarily complex for android users, but once you do it, the actual use of the bulbs is simple.In order to get the devices to show connect to you wifi network, you MUST enable airplane mode on your android device and then enable your wifi afterward on the device WHILE KEEPING AIRPLANE MODE ENABLED.For whatever reason, the app will time out and fail to pair the device if you do not do this. this is in the instructions on the website when you got to troubleshoot the issue, but for whatever reason that have not updated the literature inside of the box itself.Even after you do this, the bulb may fail to connect to the network the first time you go to pair it. if that happens, simple turn it off and on 5 times and allow it to cycle through the light sequence before attempting to pair it again.As for the product itself, It is extremely bright and has a great quality to the light. I am replacing a house full of lohas smart bulbs, and the the difference in the quality and color of light in person is night and day. Its cleaner, its more even, and it fills a space better.The picture in the listing is the Lifx bulb on the right and the Lohas bulb on the left. Keep in mind you can often get 8 lohas bulbs from the price of a SINGLE lifx so they punch well above their weight class, but there is a difference and a noticeable one is a side by side comparison.The array of visible colors is much better and the accuracy of often hard to hit colors like yellows, vibrant greens, and pink are present and vibrant.The ONLY issue i have with these bulbs is the pairing process. There is no reason i can fathom that it needs to be this complex, but it is and for the result i am willing to pay the price of having to turn on airplane mode for the initial setup.no issued controlling these with my google enabled home devices.Would reccomend. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Oh Hey. LED Light Bulbs that Work With Linux *by on Reviewed in the United States November 30, 2023* I use a Linux desktop as my daily driver. This review and my rating of the LIFX light bulbs is mostly concerned with that... using them with Linux. I was pretty delighted to learn after installing them, I could ping them directly over wifi. You *can* use them with a cloud based home automation system, but my net connection is pretty flaky, so I *LOVE* that I can ping them directly.I was able to find a node.js package that did most of the heavy lifting and provided a simple API to turn them on, turn them off and change their colour. I *think* it can also setup animations, but I'm not really into that. I saw a reference to a python package, but I don't do python anymore.I was able to find the docs (they're not perfect, but they're good enough) so I'll probably add a Janet or Clojure package... cause... you know... lisp.The don't seem to be the brightest bulbs I've seen, but they're good enough for my living room. You might be sad if you tried to light a 14' x 28' condo with just two bulbs. I would say go with 6 because blue and purple seemed to be dimmer than green and red. That might be a feature of human colour perception or maybe it's the LEDs in the bulb. But when I tried out my Commodore 64 colour scheme, the cyan was MUCH brighter than the blue.I would love it if these things were a bit cheaper, but they're cheap enough that I bought a few. I rated "value for money" at four stars. I'm happy with the purchase and definitely don't feel like I was ripped off.So... if you're a Linux person and you want to do coloured light bulbs like all your iProduct friends, these are great.
