The color they come in that require painting is gray. Our old shutters were black when we purchased the house, and I painted them white a few years later. They held up pretty good for almost 25 years after that, but it was definitely time for new ones. I did look in local home-improvement stores, but none of them had the exact size and what they did have was super expensive! Finally wizened up and looked here on Amazon and lo and behold! They had the exact size I needed! And the price was amazing. So happy when they arrived and found how beautiful and sturdy they were and installation was easy! The front of my house looks so much better and cleaner, and I love them!
