Review: Works great! - I used this to open Gateron milky yellow pro mechanical switches to film them. The process was very simple (see the video right here on desertcart), and I realized I could just let the base of the switch sit there on the opener, lift the top off carefully so as not to disturb the spring, place the film, and then return the top of the switch to its base without messing with the insides. My switches came pre-lubed, so I didn't want to remove the lube by handling them. Can't imagine opening all those switches without one of these gadgets. The opener is made of metal, closes magnetically, and it's pretty, too, kind of a shimmery purple. I like that you can pick your color. Good quality. Now if only I could remember where I put it...

I used this to open Gateron milky yellow pro mechanical switches to film them. Does exactly what you want it to, can open switches and has a string attached to put it on a keychain or similar. I absolutely love the little magnets that hold it together, too. Worth the few bucks to get one of these if you plan on building a keyboard.
