Both the fire box and smoking chambers are equipped with charcoal grates and grilling grates so when you have a large grilling party you can use the full 1,830 square Inch of grilling power. Would have returned it. Problems abound. Steel not thick enough to really hold heat well as ambient temp drops. Surface Area for smoking much less than advertised since the lower rack doesn't get enough heat to cook at a similar temp as the main rack (not even close).
