A plus for me, some info was highlighted which I personally found helpful when studying and taking exams. The book itself is full of relevant and up to date(as can be) info on the subject and actually interesting to read!

A surprising book! Bobby is mostly known as an audio engineer, but this volume lays out a very up-to-date methodology for navigating the 21st century music industry, and will be useful to anyone trying to break into music. He imparts his considerable knowledge of the new streaming services and all the ways to monetize recorded music in the post-CD era. This book is an invaluable addendum to Don Passman's better known volume, and in many ways, it surpasses it.

Firstly I'm shocked that no one else has reviewed this masterpiece on the modern music business, which was published a little earlier this year. And secondly, it is, indeed, just that: a masterpiece.Owsinkski certainly knows his stuff, and it would be near on impossible to write a better book, without the years of experience in the music industry that the author clearly has. It is also brilliantly researched, and full of the kind of facts which even the general reader (never mind someone who's trying to professionalise his music!) would find interesting. I certainly learned plenty of interesting things within ten minutes of reading it. Did you know, for example, that PSY (the 'Gangnam Style' man) made over $10 million from youtube alone! No wonder he's not brought out any follow-up yet (...if ever), as he can now and for the rest of his dancing days, most surely relax on a sunny beach somewhere ridiculously pleasant, surrounded by his inimitable 'bevvy of babes' on just that kind of money alone. Nice for some...Or, just when you thought you knew everything about a certain Canadian fellow... did you know that 3% of Twitter's entire traffic is solely down to the said unfairly handsome young crooner: Justin Bieber Esq.!Owsinksi has a superb talent for seizing on the interesting, while also surrounding such with the kind of useful information, which makes this book nothing less than essential, for anyone who wishes to share, or learn from his wonderful insight into how the music industry works - right now, in 2016.Or. as the author himself puts it: this book "contains the guiding insights of some of the brightest minds in the music industry about where the industry has been, where it is now, and where it's going. With so much information available, I wanted to do what I do best - collect it, organize it, and present it in a way that everyone can understand."I'm not the easiest reviewer to impress, but this book continued to rouse my interest, in a way which few others do. So this would make an essential purchase not just for budding musicians but also for anyone who simply has a general interest in how the modern musical world works. And luckily, despite the industry's many problems, & the closure of so many retail outlets, it still does.Full marks, for sure.
