Review: Great product - In search of finding something to remove the bugs from my house and not killing them, I found this product. I was skeptical but decided to give it a try, and I am so glad I did. I have caught small and big bees and spiders, and moved them out of the house in a short time. It’s light weight and does the job well, while long enough so that you are not getting too close to the bugs.
Review: IT. WORKS!!! - there's a review here that says that this thing gave the reviewer their life and home back and that made me LOL but out of pure recognition. i can TOTALLY RELATE. i hate hate haaaaaaate bugs and not having a solid, reliable way of dealing with them makes me feel ill at home at home and that's just not acceptable. when i first moved into my new place, i encountered a cockroach so large that i literally did not know what to do... it was so large and unprecedented to me that i considered calling the police. turns out that these are "american cockroaches" that tend to be outdoors critters in my area but will crawl in if your home is not hermetically sealed. so job one was to find all possible points of ingress and it's been a continuing saga where i find overlarge holes for the pipes in the bathroom and kitchen and also open seams at the base of the toilet etc... it seems the first line of defense against pests is to just find and block out all possible modes of entry (and for that, i've found expanding foam and caulk to do a great job). but as this enterprise continues, i've still had to deal with the occasional intruder. until now, i was using a kinda terrifying method of plastic cup and index card to get them... but if i miss, it ends up causing the bugs to skitter around like crazy and that in turn causes me to leap back and start doing the dance of the heeby jeebies.... (again, i freakin' hate bugs!). but a week ago, when i found another invader (first in like 3 months so i'm hoping it was just a straggler that got in before i sealed the last hole [hope hope hope!] and was hiding till now) and i missed and it ended up skittering behind a book case, i was sick of my method and started searching desertcart convinced that there had to be a better way. encountered several possible solutions including several motorized vacuums which i had a feeling couldn't possibly be powerful enough to actually catch largish bugs. so i took a gamble on this and i'm so pleased to say that it works!!! i think i caught the bug that i missed that went into hiding behind the book case too! from what i can tell, it's very well designed - the bristles act like a good outer perimeter with which to "trap" the bug so it can't get away and then the pinching motion turns that trap into a gripping claw that very reliably held the little villain till i could get it to the toilet. catch, release and flush all worked flawlessly. the key, i think to usage is to expand the bristles so that they're far enough away from the bug to not trip its alarms but as close as possible. then, you hover over it and either very slowly or quickly (by circumstance) put it over the bug and then snap the bristles shut as quick as possible... it seems almost like you can use it as you would your own fingers... if only you weren't squeaming about picking up large bugs with your own fingers.... they feel almost that dextrous. and very much like the other reviewer, i feel like i have my home back. i have a reliable way to deal with the problem and a way that allows me to deal with it AT A DISTANCE and with confidence. lol... i no longer have to live in fear lol! hilarious but really really true. i can only imagine how it must be for people who live in more critter infested places like in the pics i've seen for australians.... but if largish and mid-sized pests are a problem, first, try to seal off all points of entry and while you're doing that, get one of these to deal with the invaders while you seal. it will indeed give you your home and life back! i hope this product does super super super well so that it will never ever go out of stock! this needs to exist into perpetuity or at least until we annihilate all home invading bugs! [note: this is as glowing a review as anything i've ever reviewed on desertcart. again, lol but i am absolutely sincere!]

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How scared were the spiders?**
A: Imagine walking to your friends house, when all of a sudden you get captured by a contraption like this and displaced miles away in a foreign land. I believe you would have long lasting emotional trauma. Would you see your family again? How will you survive? Where will you live? These are just a few of the questions this spider may face. Would humanely ending spiders life be better than him wondering the streets, scared and alone for the rest of his days? Everyone will know the type of person you are when they come to visit you and see this hanging above your mantle.

**Q: Has anyone injured a bug with this? Like it couldn't walk away when you released it or was missing a leg or wing or something?**
A: Most of the time, no. But there may have been a couple times they lost a leg. Still, though, it’s the most effective way to catch a bug without killing it, except for your own hands.

**Q: What about spiders that carry babies on their backs? Will the babies be contained? They tend to scatter if disturbed.**
A: I'd recommend putting a small plastic cup over a spider with babies (clear is nice, so you can see where the spider is) and then gently sliding a stiff piece of cardboard under the cup so the spider is contained and can be released inside. Pros - keeps all the babies with mom, even if a few scatter they'll still be in the cup and not in your house. Con - you'll have to get closer to the spider to catch her than you would with the Critter Catcher.

**Q: What's to stop the insect from crawling up this and onto you while you're trying to get them outside?**
A: The design completely encapsulates the insect, without harming it. I was surprised by how well the bristles work . I have taken out so many spiders and bees and have never had an issue. The handle is long enough to be safe even if that happened, which I have not experienced so far. It also allows you to reach ceilings and corners where spiders typically create a web.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Beware of the fake spider!
*by J***U on October 10, 2020*

All right, so we are refurbishing the house my grandfather built. It’s way out in the country and there are spiders. Big ones. Knowing this, I bought this critter catcher to keep out at the property “just in case”. Well, “just in case” happened today! First off, you need to know going into this, that this thing comes with a fake spider. Don’t open the box and throw it like I did! Haha! I was already on edge because the reason I had to open the box was because I’d just come across a giant wolf spider. If you don’t know what that is, thank your lucky stars you don’t live in an area they populate, because believe me, you’d know what they are. If you don’t know, they are usually silver dollar, or BIGGER, sized spiders and they are FAAAASSST. Oh, and the females carry their live babies on their backs...all 10,000 of them. So you have to make sure you don’t squish a momma because then all the babies scatter and you now have thousands of tiny demons in your house. Ugh!!! So, well, I posted a clip of me not only catching one of these monsters, but there ended up being TWO of them. I couldn’t post the entire 8 minute video but if you want the shortened version, I caught the first one after a couple tries and it was safely released. I went back to watch the video and realized there was a SECOND one watching me catch his buddy. I reluctantly went back for him but the second one evaded capture. It was too fast for me to catch. So 4 stars for the critter catcher because it does work. But minus one star because there is still a giant spider loose in my house that I couldn’t catch with it. This contraption is great, but not perfect. Still better than me trying to catch it in a jar I guess!
