## Description

Product description VP-1 Vulcanizing Patch Kit A flat tire doesn't have to spell the end of your ride. The Park Tool Vulcanizing Patch Kit comes with everything you need to repair a punctured inner tube and get it ready for reinstallation and inflation. Together with the included self-vulcanizing fluid, the butyl patches create a molecular bond with the inner tube, permanently repairing any punctures. The application process is easy: simply spread a thin layer of self-vulcanizing fluid over the area, allow it to dry, remove the backing from the patch, firmly apply pressure (especially at the edges), and inspect the bond after a minute or two. Compatible with virtually all bicycle inner tubes. With its small form factor (2.75"x1.875"x.75", 17 grams), the VP-1 is an ideal size to tuck into a saddle bag or jersey pocket. The VP-1 comes with four round patches (20 mm and 25 mm diameter) for smaller holes as well as two oval patches (25 mm x 35 mm) for wider cuts. TRUSTED SINCE 1963 Since our origins in the back of a bike shop in 1963, it has been our sole mission to design and manufacture high-quality tools that empower mechanics and riders of all skill levels to service their bicycles. As with our other 500+ tools, our patch kits are a product of our decades of experience and expertise in the industry, in the shop and on the trail.

Review: Better to know me and not need me, than the reverse. - Good kit to have in your tool bag.
Review: Don't leave home without it - This kit is a life saver, and I have no complaints with it. It's compact and easy to use, comes with plenty of patches and more than enough glue, and it will dependably patch your tubes if applied correctly. I'll buy another kit when this one runs out. The inside of the case has some handy little instructions, but they're condensed, so watch the official Park Tool video if you're unsure how to use it. The only thing that could potentially be confusing is that the instructions only say to "peel off the backing" but each patch is actually sandwiched between a piece of cellophane-like material and a piece of foil-like material. After sanding and waiting for the glue to dry, what you want to do is peel off the foil piece but leave the clear piece on, then put the now naked side of the patch over the hole and apply pressure for a minute or two. Leave the clear piece there when reinstalling the tube; it won't hurt anything. The Park Tool video also includes this handy tip: mark the location of the hole with an X in chalk or marker or pen or something, because after you sand and apply the glue, it's going to be practically invisible.

## Features

- The VP-1 Patch Kit includes six thin and flexible patches with tapered edges to blend with the tube’s profile.
- A tube of self-vulcanizing fluid bonds the patch to the tube at the molecular level.
- Each kit is packaged in a small plastic box with sandpaper for cleaning the tube and instructions.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: what size tube is the glue?**
A: It doesn't really matter. The cement tube in the patch kit will be dried out within 10 months of first use. As a practical matter, I've found that these Park patch kits are a single use item.I'm a verified purchaser of this Park VP-1 patch kit. As I suggest in my review, you can buy good quality Kenda inner tubes for about $5.75 each, shipped. I now carry a new inner tube in my panniers and would install that instead of patching. However, I also carry a replacement Park patch kit for the unlikely event of having two or more flats in one day. That event is so unlikely that I prefer to carry the small, light Park patch kit instead of a second new inner tube. The cement tube in the Park kit will remain fluid for many years as long as it is kept sealed and unused.

**Q: I have leak on the rubber right under the valve, would one of these patches work? The valve part and tube material seem to be a bit different.**
A: Possibly because of the inflated pressure pushing on the patch and possibly sealing the hole, but probably not! Sounds like an old tube with dry rot separating the 2 materials. In an emergency I might try it, however I would replace the tube.

**Q: It shows two different kits that look exactly the same except for the container and price. What's the difference? Thanks**
A: From the looks of the new add is that one is last years product and the more expensive one is this years product ! I'd go with the new one ! Just because the glue would be fresher. It's an awesome patch .. I know that for a fact. Significantly better than a walmart product and significantly better priced than a bicycle shop. I'll probably order a new one here ..

**Q: is the glue/cement enough to patch 2 small patches?**
A: Depending on how aggressive you are with the glue at least 2 patches. However, once the break the seal the remaining glue will be good for about 6 month. Beyond that you are pushing your luck. It does not matter which brand you buy. If you have broken the seal, toss it at the end of the season and buy a new kit. On a side note: something rarely seen in the instructions, before installing the inner tube, check the inside of the tire to insure the object that caused the puncture is not still embedded in the tire!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ “Works Flawlessly – Just Wish It Had More Glue”
*by P***. on February 10, 2025*

"I bought this in 2015, and it saved me multiple times from having to push my bike out of the woods. The patches worked flawlessly, sealing punctures well. I do wish it came with more glue, but I managed just fine. Overall, a must-have for any rider—it does the job when you need it most!"
