This is my first season using these pouches. Experimenting with regular and Wave petunias. Both are working well and growing quickly. From other sites and my own experience with more than a dozen pouches over the last couple of months, I have found: - Wave petunias (from Home Depot) typically have larger root balls and are more difficult to insert, but fill in faster than regular petunias - Using narrow tongs helps to keep the root ball in tact when placing in the pouch - Water and fertilize slowly and repeatedly - excess will drain from the bottom, so I wait a few minutes and then repeat - Skip the bottom two holes - trailing plants will cover this area anyway, the bottom plants are at risk of excess moisture and insufficient sun light - Next planting, I will pack the bottom of the bags to the first holes with either peat moss or coco mat for better drainage In short, the pouches are very durable, versatile, and cost effective.
