Review: Let's look at this thing with the proper perspective - Let's take a look at this thing piece by piece. As background, I am a "trainwreck" as my medical professionals put it. I've lived on painkillers, nerve medicines, muscle relaxers, and whatever self medication I can come up with. Draw your own opinion but the truth hurts and so do I. Back to the conversation. NOTHING save the above and Accupuncture has helped. I was referred to this unit by my father who has been much the same. The unit has been upgraded as I understand it: 1. The band has been upgraded as it has previous slipped down user's legs. 2. The electrodes with the starter unit are pathetic, customer service recommends the "Sports" version for better adhesion. The new band is great. I'm still using the initial electrodes with some "sea salt" (believe it or not) which creates better adhesion and what I believe better conductivity. Also, I've used the "Alpha Stim" Electrode gel which seems to help as well. Anything to avoid the overpriced replacement electrodes (which you will have to purchase in any case). Any of these providers, Alpha Stim, Tens units and the Quell make their money on the electrodes. Does it work? I have Grade 3 arthritis in my right knee (subject to four operations thus far). This worked the first day to reduce the discomfort. It won't solve the problem and Quell is very straight up about that. Nerve pain? Yep, got that as well and this unit has reduced my hip, thigh, and lower back nerve shooters - which when they hit really get my attention. Hoping the unit will put off knee replacement and back surgery. So far so good. So, conclusion? Overall, works pretty well so far. The electrode price will sting quite a bit but not as bad as arthritis and those nerve shooters. Maybe Quell can adjust those prices or offer packages such that it's not as expensive (are you listening Quell?) Enjoy your Christmas Day. This was a present from my wife, a Physician - and I really appreciate her consideration.
Review: A total waste of time and money! - I have severs periferal neuropathy and had much hope that the device would ease some of the pain and enable me to take less pain medication. The first device I received I wore for about three weeks and thought that it might indeed be helping. I had four knee surgeries so it was hard to tell how much it was helping because of the surgical pain. After about three weeks the device stopped charging. I had trouble from the start with the hole in the device that one has to input the charger because it was somewhat too small. It took me about five minutes each night just to get the thing connected so it would charge. If one wears the device all day, you have to charge it during one of the off times in order to wear it at night. It stopped charging. I called the company and they begrudging sent me a new one. The piece of fabric that you put the device inside of in order to wear it began to look very tacky and stretched out so much that it would slip down my leg. This is after a few weeks and most people would have to wear it forever if it worked, and after a few weeks it looked terrible and cheap. I told them when i called but they refused to send me a new one. I could buy a new one though. The new one arrived and I put it inside the tacky leg strap and tried again. After two days it also stopped charging. I called again. They were rude, uncaring and told me to call desertcart. They really care about a client in pain, right. I called desertcart and thankfully they indeed refunded the money for the device. The four sets of electrodes I had ordered were not refunded. In sum, I think the device has promise, but the manufacturer has to use good materials so the device actually works for a very long time, and one can have it on your leg and not be embarrassed by how cheap, stretched out and dirty it looks.(even after washing it). They might also employ people who care about people and try to imagine how horrible it is to live in chronic pain. The representatives I spoke with were uncaring and outright rude. They did not care what I thought, how I felt about the device, or even to inquire if I felt it was helping me. As someone else already wrote, the electrodes are $30., and they work for about 5 to 6 days. I know this for sure because the device began to say I needed to increase the intensity, and I had it at 90%. Perhaps it is a device that could somewhat ease ones pain, but don't buy it unless you can afford to spend about $100. per month on electrodes, buy new leg bands twice per month, and be able to buy a new device after it stops charging. That could be every few days because they don't care and desertcart can't continue to do what the Quell people should do. It is very sad that profit and stock holders are the only thing this Quell company cares about. Using the cheapest materials and obviously no quality control makes a bigger profit and people in pain are only there to be used. Don't buy this. Hopefully, another manufacturer will make this product and back it up. S Heap

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Worth trying, I'm a convert.
*by J***. on February 15, 2017*

After reading the many reviews and the various detraction's to the device and given my chronic pain issues and the 60 day return policy, I decided to give it a shot. First I will say that within a few days of use, I have experienced a significant reduction in my chronic pain. However there is one major caveat, in that after about ten days of use, I came down with a major head cold and was taking tylenol containing cold medications for about three days, but the pain relief from the Quell device was apparent both before and after my cold medicine use. I normally use prescription strength Ibuprofen (800mg) on a regular basis and occasionally narcotic Lortabs. I have used very little pain medicine since (with the exception of the cold meds) since using the device. The comments on the electrodes are spot on. My first electrode that came with the Quell lasted about 12 days. I used the device 12 days out of 14. By the last day it was beginning to sting, which the manufacturer states it's time to change the electrodes. I tried the Spectra 360 electrode gel, applying only a small amount, can't say it made a whole lot of difference in the longevity of the electrodes, but in all fairness, I didn't do it that often, it wasn't convenient to do when switching position from one leg to another during the work day. I work 12 hr shifts. Bottom line is that the device works for me and is worth the money in my opinion. Noticed in the various comment here on Amazon is the use of Sensus electrodes from LG medical. They are supposed to last longer and are less expensive than those sold for the Quell device. There may have been a difference at one time, but now both devices use the same electrode. I did buy the "Sensus" electrode from LG Medical, but they look exactly like the ones that came with my Quell. I have not used them yet, but the packaging is the same and says Quell but also has a "Sensus" sticker on it as well. They are however 30% cheaper from LGmedical as opposed to buying replacement electrodes here on Amazon for the Quell electrodes. I have also noticed that the elasticity of the sports band is losing ground, but I have not washed it yet or tried to shrink it in any way. It is easy to dislodge the electrode from the device while wearing it if you bump it while wearing it. The iPhone app could be better. It is convenient to adjust the intensity or monitor the progress of the therapy, but sometimes loses connection despite both the phone and the Quell being fully charged and in close proximity. It then loses count of the number of sessions. Some times the automatic restart function fails for some reason, not sure if this is an app issue or a device issue. I tried wearing it while I slept, but that did not work well for me. I'm a light sleeper and just could not stand anything attached to my leg while sleeping, it was not an issue of the sensations of the therapy, in fact I fell asleep with it doing it's thing. It was supposed to be set for continuous therapy though the night, but as far as I could tell, it stopped after the first session. Could be operator error. If the electrodes lasted longer and were less expensive, it would get a solid "5" rating and for me is well worth the price. YMMV greatly.
