Review: The best value in a subwoofer I could find. Really glad I went with the IWS8 for my project. - I bought several Rocket UFW-10 subwoofers back in 2005. They were really good, tight bass, not muddy at all. Well, the amps all went bad on the enclosures and I didn't have the heart to trash them. I thought about replacing the amps at first and looked for the right plate amplifier to replace the dead ones on the 3 UFW-10s but I couldn't justify the spend. I decided to leave them unpowered and started using them as my main front left/right woofers and as the sub for my PC. The UFW-10 connected to my PC goes through a soundbar and is powered by a 2 channel 100 watt amp. The bass just wasn't banging with the one channel so I stated looking at adding a second subwoofer to the setup instead of buying a new more powerful amp, cost/benefit and the cost was too high for a better amp. When I checked out the specs for the OSD IWS8 and the price I decided to give them a whirl. The IWS8 mounted perfectly in the UFW-10 and now it slams with the cheapo 100 watt amp on my PC. For just $100 more I decided to do the same hack to my front left/right speakers. I added some passive crossovers to the mains. I can't really vouch for mounting these in a wall. They may be missing a little on the low end but I can say that they compliment my old USW-10 speakers perfectly and at an unbeatable price point. I would recommend mounting them with some foam rubber around the lip as pictured.
