Then seal when the liquid is more of a solid. **Q: Can you heat seal a bag without vacuuming out the air from the bag. If so can you use any bag to heat seal ?** A: You can seal bags without vaccuming the air out. I also reseal potato chip bags, brown sugar bags, etc without having to put the in foodsaver bags. any food that comes in a bag can usually be reseal with this. **Q: What is the max width of bags it takes?** A: 11-7/16 is the size that came with my foodsaver and it is so tight that you can hardly get it in the slot for it.If you can buy 11-1/4 bags they would be easier to deal with. **Q: will this unit hold the bigger commercial rolls** A: no, it does NOT. Just cut off enough to make your next "bag".
