A: I easily solved the problem by placing a 2nd spacer on the bottom hex head.  Just like the one on the top hex head bolt.

**Q: does it matter which end of the self closing gate spring is up or down**
A: No , but it’s best to have the end with the adjustment up .

**Q: I have a 6' tall by 10' long chain link gate, would I need two of these?**
A: It's hard to tell. A single spring easily handles my wooden gate, but it's only 26 sq. ft., as opposed to your 60. Why not try using one spring, and then add a second if that proves inadequate?

**Q: Does it matter which direction the gate opens?**
A: No it will not matter which way the gate opens. It is set by the way you set the spring. One way will pull the gate closed the other will push it closed.
