Sighting through an open window can be problematic since the built-in light can reflect off the window casing and overpower the image tube. Inside a home it works very well and I could read my 6 inch wall clock very easily in total darkness (self illumination by the scope, that can not be turned off). A hand strap would be very useful as the hand-held image can shake in your hand. I will also equip it for use on a tripod. For less than $100, I don't think it can be beat.
