The balance point of the tray is in the dead centre and this can be manipulated by the carrying hand. Drinks and items can of course be placed to the side but it becomes more difficult. For a full tray of drinks, removing a single drink from one side can displace the balancing point. Thanks** A: Yes the handle is really high x **Q: How can I clean the fluff off the tray please?** A: Try a clothes brush **Q: How does the TIpsi Tray actually work?** A: When you hold an open top drink, whether that be a cup of coffee, a glass of water or a beer there is always the chance of spilling it. Because of Newton’s Third Law we know that if a force is applied abruptly to one side of the cup, then the liquid inside the cup exerts a force of equal measure but in the opposite direction. There is also the force of gravity acting on the cup and liquid in a downward motion. Basically if you knock the side of the cup then you enact a force on that side that then enacts the same force on to the liquid inside. This force causes it to splash to the opposite side and leave the edge of the cup, meaning it spills. When you put the drink on the Tipsi Tray, you are holding the handle at the top and causing a new centre point at the top of that handle. By holding it loosely you allow the tray to move freely and if any lateral force was applied to your hand (someone bumped into you) then this does not translate to the handle or the tray or the side of the cup. Everything on the tray will swing together in the same direction. Gravity and the normal force end up working together and go in the same direction as the force that knocked the cup resulting in equal acceleration to the tray, cup and liquid meaning no spill. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works amazingly well *by C***S on 8 April 2023* My home office is upstairs, down the end of a long hallway. Using this tray to carry multiple items, including drinks, soups etc upstairs is made with ease, with this tray.It is very well made and has some weight to it, but I'm still amazed every time I use it at how much movement it gets and yet the drinks and other liquids stay put.If you are often having to carry liquids upstairs, then I would recommend this tray. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Mixed Opinions. Don't think it's for me *by H***S on 1 February 2023* The media could not be loaded. Edit: having now tried one of the alternative plastic trays I'm shocked by how awkward they are and how much easier the Tipsi Tray is. It so much easier and more comfortable to hold and balance, even with the extra weight. And somehow the thin metal handle is more comfortable to hold.I found with the plastic tray that it mattered a lot where things were placed on the tray and that it was really awkward to hold it flat and required keeping my wrist at an odd angle.With the Tipsi Tray I feel more confident just placing things down randomly and I'm able to confidently hold the tray by my side, move it around etc. I don't have to put extra focus into holding it so things don't fall off, which I found I was having to do with the plastic one.I'll be continuing with the Tipsi Tray and I'm sure I'll get used to the limitations/ awkwardness with the handle etc. It might not be perfect for my needs/ wants, but it's apparently the better option still.-----------I am reviewing this as a disability aid rather than a serving tray. I don't think it's going to work for me. But I do think it could work for other people, especially with limited alternatives being available.It does work. It carries things. You only need one hand. It is easier to balance than a standard 2 handed tray. The surface seems reasonably non- slip. Being round I also found it was quite easy to move between hands, in front or to the side etc. You can really tell it was designed for serves navigating through a potentially crowded restaurant.But there are some potential downsides that mean it doesn't really work well for me and might not work well for others.It's heavy. Understandable since it's made of heavier duty materials like metal. But that extra weight could make a big difference. I find it usable, but for anybody who struggles with something like a 2l bottle of drink I think it could be problematic.The handle is just the bent metal. That's usable for me at the moment, but I expect it could be awkward for some people or make hand pain worse since there's more pressure in specific areas.The tray is not fixed. I'm sure this actually helps with balance if anything since it has a bit of room to level itself without it feeling unstable when you are carrying it. But it also means it needs to be put onto a solid, flat surface which may limit usability. Like I had difficulty placing it on my bed to move things from it to my bedside table. And you can't really perch it on something to adjust your grip.Most significantly for me, the handle slides out every time you put it down. This makes it really impractical for me since I will often need to perch trays to adjust my grip and with the handle sliding out every time I'm sure it will end in disaster soon enough. I have considered just taping over the opening so it doesn't slide out, but I'm not sure how well that would last and it's not the only thing I find inconvenient about it.But with that said there's a real limit to options when it comes to one handed trays and the main other option is those plastic ones which appear to be quite flimsy and also more fiddly to set up. So I can definitely see this being the better option for somebody who can manage more weight, is okay with the handle coming out and the tray being free moving etc. I'm definitely sure it will last longer than those plastic ones.The sliding handle part is also angled so although I find it problematic when putting the tray down I don't feel like it's at all unstable when carrying it.All in all it's not the right choice for me at the moment, but I would suggest other people give it a try if they think they would be okay with those "downsides".And with my limited knowledge or serving I'd definitely recommend it for that. The tray is fully removable. The handle comes off easily. It's really easy to move around while carrying. There's not faff. You just place the tray down on the circle and slide the handle in. It can all be done quickly and with one hand.
