Review: Going strong with no problems after 2 years. - Product review is for the light silver square shaped can with the power adapter. I've now had this garbage can for nearly 2 years and it still works great even with regular daily use. I really have nothing negative to say. It looks good and does everything its supposed to. Sensor still works great, not too sensitive, but sensitive enough. Lid motor still works like its new. I don't think it has even started slowing down yet. This was a great purchase for the money I'd say. If you're after a solid electric can, this is a solid choice.
Review: No Muss, No Fuss. Quite possibly the perfect trash can. - After our old Costco trash can with a spring loaded lid decided to break at the hinge, I was forced to buy a new trashcan for our kitchen. My wife and I both despise the trashcans with the foot pedal to open the lid so I researched desertcart for other options. I read through all the reviews on the different auto trash cans and decided on the iTouchless as it had the option to plug it in with an AC power adaptor and it had a deodorizer (which is a bit of a stretch, but more on that later). The can arrived promptly thanks to desertcart Prime with no dents, scratches, or missing parts. I read the directions and set up the can up in our pantry with the power adaptor. I tested both the infrared and the push buttons to operate the lid and both worked well. The time lapse for the auto open is more than enough to drop the trash in the can. The opening is gracious and accommodates the usual trash one would place in a kitchen trash can. The way the lid sits on top allows the trash bag to be completely filled, minimizing wasted trash bags, and the best feature of all is the ability to use normal 13 gallon trash bags and not some special bags produced by the maker of the trash can. The bag retention system is elegantly simple and effective. We have yet to have the bag slip off and fall in the can. My 3 and 5 year old can easily throw their own trash out without touching any of the surfaces which cuts down on germs on them and fingerprints on the stainless steel. The deodorizer feature is a the only real negative on the overall system as it consist of a small filter bag of Lord knows what that sits in a plastic receptacle near the lid. It really doesn't do anything, but we use scented bags so it is not a big deal at all. The only issue I have had with owning this trash can is the fact that I wave my hand over other trash cans out of habit, expecting them to open. After owning this can for a couple of months, the motor mechanism is still going strong and I will update this review when it finally gives up the ghost, as I know it will as nothing mechanical lasts longer than a year at my house. Update: July 2017. This can finally gave up and quit working. I did a short post mortum, but it was Perry gnarly under that lid, so in this case I just left it as is and purchased the updated version of this garbage can. Still a five star rating as that poor auto lid took a hellacious being from my kids as they grew up.

**Q: I see a lot of the reviews for this trash can are from years ago.  Can someone tell how it is holding up?  It seems most reviews are from 2006-2007.**
A: I bought this in 2007, and left a review sometime in '08-'09 about how much I loved this trash can. We are still using the same one and have only had to change the batteries a few times (in 12 years). The only reason I'm buying a new one today is because my kids were messing around the other day and slammed the lid shut, breaking the gear. I just hope my new one can last as long as my first one did (who knows how much longer it could have gone if my kids hadn't busted it)!

**Q: can you  lock the lid when you leave the house because of a curious dog**
A: I just purchased one and there isn’t a way to “lock” it so your dogs can’t get in it. The only option is to turn off the power switch, but they can still get into it especially if they knock it over- the lid will just come off.

**Q: Has any body use the electrical adaptor instead of the batteries?, and how it work out**
A: I bought two of these trash cans in 2020, one of which was with the adapter. They both work great. The adapter just plugs into the can and the other end into an electrical outlet. Love both of them.

**Q: Is the lid that opens plastic?**
A: Plastic is not that durable. I had problems where the kid would not close all the way. Someone posted a video of this too. Be careful enclosing it manually if the kid does not close all the way because the plastic tab broke and now the lid does not open. They do not sell replacement parts for the lid only, and you’ll have to buy a whole new unit which is more than half the price of the can itself. Disappointing

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Who Says Garbage Ain't Fun?

So far, so great. I never did trust these "magic" gadgets that know you're coming. I mean, you gotta be dressed to walk into the kitchen now for fear your garbage can's gonna see ya? Well, OK, I will say it does work and very nicely. But I'll also say this is something we all can have fun with, maybe bring us back to being kids again? You know, after some weeks, I still tend to jump back when this can opens its gaping mouth at me? Put down those 3-D glasses, this is real! Then, I suppose you're reading this for the nitty-gritty details on how or whether it works. So I'll open up my most delicate fears so you can have a peek at "The Monster In The Kitchen." Or "It Came From Beneath The Linoleum." First, putting it together. Not much to that, really. You'll need those big, fat D batteries. So far, one set has done it for me, even counting for playtime. Then, fixing up your garbage bag in it takes little training. Be sure and have the 13-gallon size, they'll work better. Slide it through the rectangle, over and out and drop it in place. Directions are uncomplicated. Your main thought will be where to put it, or at least where to aim the working part, the front of that gaping mouth. Don't aim it where you stand to wash the dishes. Oh, don't worry; it's not that dangerous. Six inches back and your privates will be safe. Some experimentation might be in order; but just don't fret about it. And for Heaven's sake, stop thinking of Audrey and Gregory putting their arms into the lion's mouth in Rome. I've only had my right hand sewn back on twice. I'm getting quicker. No, I don't find it noisy at all. You hear it open; but probably less so than you expect. It can get its cycle thwarted by not being able to close when it wants (like those times it eats your hand); but push the button, doggone it. Don't be afraid of the thing. Show it who's boss. Don't let it intimidate you. Toughen up, soldier! In short, think before you cuss it out. That "malfunction" may be simply a mild miscue that is relieved simply be letting nature or machinery take its course. It does have those two buttons on the front, ya know. It also has a switch on back. This turns your kitchen monster on and off.... if you're tricky enough to sneak up on it from behind. This takes courage; but you can do it. You'll want it off to move it or change the bag (I haven't yet had to slop through the garbage to do this, much less so than before, actually). Or to lift off the top to more easily find your hand down there amongst the garbage. Got the idea? This is the future. Do those step-on cans frighten you? I'll bet they frightened somebody when they first came out, the kitchen monsters of their day. Well, this is simply an evolution, an improvement.... a great improvement. It doesn't really eat hands, I'm only kidding. Finally, I thought this "gadget" was a expensive"toy" myself. Until I started shopping around for plain old no-frills kitchen trash cans. Geesh! You'll be paying almost as much and more for much less fun and and when you get down to it, serviceability. (ADDED NOTE: I paid $60 with free shipping. I see price has greatly increased.) Oh darn... Did I forget to mention the appearance of this kitchen monster? Well, that's how it fools its victims. It just plain looks too good in the kitchen to do any real harm. Kinda like better than the rest of the kitchen, when you get right down to it. Look at the picture to your upper right and compare it to the unfun cans you see on other pages. Yeah, just look without fear. Sneaky little gadget, ain't it? Arrrrrgh! I think I saw it move toward me!
