I imagine it must have just been the pearly shine. Though the texture of the toothpaste isn't super pleasing to me, it is that very texture, I believe, that made my teeth so shiny. I think it's worth it. I can't believe how nice my teeth look after one brush and how silky and clean they feel. I feel like I had to use a bit more toothpaste that with other brands because of the texture, but that's ok.
