I learned through this process that a transponder key has a chip in it that makes the vehicle more secure but does not necessarily act as a remote. It is critically important to have two transponder keys as they are more difficult to duplicate and have to be programmed. BTW. when it comes time to program them look for a YouTube video that shows a simple process of turning the key a crazy number of times. If you follow the instructions to the best of your ability it is easy, although the first time it might not work. There were videos that claim that you have to leave the key in for 30 minutes to program it. That was NOT the case for us. **Q: will these keys work without making a copy from the original key? lost original key** A: A locksmith can make a key pattern from your ignition to cut these keys. The problem is that these keys will need the originals to program them to the anti-theft system. Without them, the keys will not link to the ECM and won’t start the car. You’ll need to visit a Ford Dealer. **Q: Are these diy programmable with 1 working existing key only (not 2( for 2002 ford f150?** A: When I did mine I used my Autel ms906bt, there was a couple of steps to do. I'm not sure if they are programmable without a scan tool.
