Review: CORSAIR Hydro X Series XM2 M.2 SSD Water Block Review - Its great - CORSAIR Hydro X Series XM2 M.2 SSD Water Block Review Introduction Finding the perfect cooling solution for high-performance NVMe drives can be a challenge, especially with the advances in technology pushing the limits of heat dissipation. This review delves into the effectiveness and performance of the CORSAIR Hydro X Series XM2 M.2 SSD Water Block, which promises to keep even the hottest drives running cool. Prelude to the Hydro X Series XM2 My journey began with a FireCuda 530 Gen 4 drive, which served me well but didn't fully utilize the capabilities of my B650 motherboard's Gen 5 NVMe drive slot. Eager to push my system's performance, I upgraded to a Crucial T700 1TB drive. However, as I monitored the temperatures of my Gen 4 drive with the motherboard's stock cooler, it became evident that the existing cooling solution wouldn't suffice for a Gen 5 drive. The new motherboards might have larger heatsinks, but I needed a more robust solution to prevent throttling and ensure optimal performance. Exploring Alternative Cooling Solutions To address this, I experimented with the JEYI M.2 2280 SSD Heatsink Cooler, purchased from AliExpress. Despite its affordability, this heatsink delivered impressive results. During the CrystalDiskMark 1GB setting test, temperatures peaked at 56 degrees Celsius. While idle for 10 minutes, the temperatures never dropped below 45 degrees. For its cost, the JEYI heatsink was an outstanding performer. My system, renowned for its extensive water cooling setup, includes a GPU that never exceeds 35 degrees Celsius while gaming at 4K 144Hz, with water temperatures at 32 degrees and ambient temperatures at 23 degrees. Although tempted to water cool my RAM and SSD, I refrained as my RAM, even with RGB lighting, never exceeded 49 degrees. The CORSAIR Hydro X Series XM2 M.2 SSD Water Block Experience Ultimately, I decided to try the CORSAIR Hydro X Series XM2 M.2 SSD Water Block. The results were promising: during the 1GB test, maximum temperatures reached 50 degrees Celsius. The subsequent 2GB test recorded 51 degrees, and the 4GB test also stabilized at 51 degrees. The Hydro X Series XM2 demonstrated consistent performance and maintained lower temperatures compared to traditional air cooling methods. This water block is particularly beneficial for users with existing water cooling systems, providing a seamless integration and enhanced thermal management. Considerations and Recommendations For those experiencing issues with the CORSAIR Hydro X Series XM2, it's essential to consider several factors. Proper installation and configuration are paramount. Thoroughly reading the instructions, watching tutorial videos, and understanding your system's cooling dynamics are crucial steps to ensure optimal performance. The way components are connected and the overall cooling system design significantly impact the effectiveness of the water block. Users should ensure that their water loop is efficiently designed to handle the additional heat load from the SSD and that the water block is correctly integrated into the existing cooling setup. Final Thoughts The CORSAIR Hydro X Series XM2 M.2 SSD Water Block is an excellent choice for enthusiasts looking to achieve lower temperatures and maintain the performance of their high-end NVMe drives. It excels in systems with advanced water cooling setups, providing consistent thermal management and preventing throttling. For those who take the time to learn and understand the installation process, the Hydro X Series XM2 offers a reliable and efficient cooling solution. It's important to address potential issues by ensuring proper installation, adequate system cooling, and a well-designed water loop to fully realize the benefits of this water block. In conclusion, the CORSAIR Hydro X Series XM2 M.2 SSD Water Block is a worthwhile investment for serious PC enthusiasts and gamers seeking to push their systems to the limits without compromising on performance due to thermal constraints. With careful consideration and proper implementation, this water block can deliver exceptional cooling and enhance the longevity and reliability of your NVMe drives.
Review: Use passively - Very happy with this I don’t use it in the loop I just use passively It changes the temperatures quite a bit It rises and lowers very slowly You need to have good circulated case otherwise it won’t cool down once it slowly heats up

## Questions & Answers

**Q: My 990 pro is to tight for confort. is there a thinner thermal pad you would recomend to use?**
A: I used Thermal Grizzly Minus 8 .5mm pad, these newer mobo’s use a thermal pad on the bottom attached to mobo and one on the stock heatsink. I kept the stock thermal pad in the mobo and used the .5mm for this water block and it is tight but it does fit, great thermals too no issues whatsoever

**Q: Does mounting this pose any threat to the m.2 drive from vibrations?**
A: I am flabbergasted, dumbfounded, and at a complete loss...

WHY would 'vibrations' pose damage to the M.2, and especially, how-so from THIS?

What is the premise for this question? Cause I can't imagine any.

**Q: Does the copper and nylon version have LEDs?**
A: Hi Jim,

XM2 M.2 SSD water block does not have an LED option.

If you have any other questions please contact us: support.corsair.com

**Q: Will this fit inside a Playstation 5?**
A: No, this is a waterblock that needs fittings and tubing and a res + pump for water cooling

### ⭐ If I could give this a zero star rating, I would
*by M***E on 3 November 2024*

Absolute useless... Bought to actually work with a corsair m.2 drive, but upon trying to pair the two, no matter how much I tried to fit them together, the top half containing the heat sink, connections and waterblock refuses to clip to the base no matter what. Calling this product a waste of metal is almost too kind... It's utterly useless, unfit for purpose, and either wasn't machined correctly or corsair has the absolute worst quality control conditions on the entire planet. Excrement in metal form, avoid like the plague.
