It works as good as expected. Thumbs up here Review: Great fun for kids - To be honest, I was a bit skeptical of these paper jamz when I saw them in the stores. It wasn't until I went online and watched a few videos of them on youtube that I decided to get them for the grand kids. They all love the guitar hero series and rockband on ps3 so it shouldn't be such a leap. Well, we got one for one of the gk's birthday's and he loves it. It takes a bit of coordination to do the strumming thing but he picked it up pretty fast once he knew the song. Plays it all the time. Volume is actually pretty loud; had to tell him to keep turning it down. They are made of hard plastic for the frame and a cardboard overlay on the top so not really a flimsy toy. The included strap on this version is a must so if your version of the regular guitar doesn't have one, get one. Can't say how long it will last if the unit is dropped repeatedly. The strap prevents that. The added feature of making up your own chord progressions is cool too and I think the best part, letting kids explore their own music-ability. As for educational value I have to say not much. As for fun value it is great. My only beef is that you are restricted to the three songs that are preloaded on the device. At least I know the ACDC songs but the other guitars have songs I don't know and don't know if the kids know so that is a drawback. Hoping in the future that they make downloadable add on songs. Shouldn't be hard with usb and a bit of memory. Other than that, I think overall that paper jamz are pretty cool. When I first saw it I thought it was pretty lame, no strings, just a picture of a guitar on a piece of plastic or cardboard. The strap is a must; he loves strapping it on and playing the guitar like a rock star. He uses it all the time. We don't use the more advanced features, I don't even really know how; but he's perfectly happy with the stuff that's built in.
